  • Hello all, first time post on forum but fan of site for years.

My question is, if i call the providers of my credit cards and ask if i had PPi on them (i wasn't aware if i did or not) and they tell me i didn't, could they lie or do they have to tell the truth? I was trying to find out if i had a claim to pursue.

    Thanks in anticipation

They won't lie, but their records may have been destroyed if this was from a period longer ago than six years...

If my loan is from more than six years ago, and the bank say they have no records older that, is that pretty much the end of any potential claim?

The card was taken out in 2003 and he managed to trace my account even though i had no record of account details, and i was told on the phone call there was no PPi on that account, i did only have the card a couple of years, paying the balance in full every month. So i don't think i have a case....do you?

And thanks for replying so quickly

In a nutshell, unles you have your own statements and evidence.

Even if you had agreed to PPI you would not have paid any if you always paid off the balance each month.
So the answer is that you have no complaint and don't need to worry about possible "liars" at the bank.

I have statements going back most of the way, but it just states 'loan payment', no account number is detailed.

    As I said
"Full and comprehensive documentation and evidence."
  • I am also claiming against Nationwide for PPI on my mortgage. I was pushed into it really, not given much option, and I feel I didn't need it as I have stated above I am entitled to full company sick pay, and I also already had accident/health insurance that pays out if I am off work too.

When I came to filling in the questionnaire, I left the PPI account number blank as I didn't have it to hand at the time. I filled in the mortgage account number, and then went back to the PPI number afterwards. It turns out they have the same account number, both are with Nationwide.

Is this common for them to be linked like this, as the Questionnaire intimated they would/should differ?
