PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hoping someone can help me.
Husband phoned the Natwest PPI claim line today to see how our reclaim on 3 consolidated loans was going. After speaking to 6 people the last person said that they have, today, sent out 7 letters to us and we should receive them within 10 working days.
Does this sound like they have upheld our claim? I am of the thinking that if they rejected our claim we would only be getting one letter saying this.
Bit of background info, we received a letter on Saturday from Natwest to say that they have cancelled the PPI on the current loan and have given us a rebate of £833. Again, I am seeing this as a positive sign.
Thanks in advance.0 -
Can anyone help me?
I remember clearly that I was bullied into taking out ppi with a Barclays loan, as the person doing the bullying was a friend! However, I don't have any paperwork any more, and am not even sure what year it was I took the loan out. Possibly 12 years ago. Everything I read says banks only keep records for 6 years. So is that it, there is no chance of me taking it any further?
It's very frustrating as between 7 and 12 years ago, I had various loans, credit cards and store cards. But each time they were paid off I threw the paperwork away! It's a lesson learned as I shan't throw anything away again, it's potentially cost me a fortune!
I just checked out my Experian credit report but it only goes back to 2005 and there is very little on it. Do any of the other credit companies keep records from further back?
Many thanks0 -

Do keep us updated!
An update as requested - I telephoned today and was told my final response letter has been generated and the complaint was not being upheld due to the account number not being found. This, despite the fact that I sent in a copy loan agreement plus 50+ bank statements showing the single monthly payment to HFC... I guess I need to join the FOS queue now? or is there an alternative?0 -
I'm in week 8 of my complaint cycle and have received a phone call from the bank asking me to verify a couple of things - reason for complaint and employment status/redundancy cover, to which I answered truthfully as far as I could (the loan was from 1996), stating that the front loaded ppi was unfair to me and I was not fully advised of its cost and rebate structure. The caller said he would have a letter out today with the final response but he could not tell me verbally the decision. He did say it would come down to "the balance" of the case whether upheld or not. Has anyone had similar calls and with what results ? Thanks0

Hi, hope someone here can help me.
I took out a mortgage with Abbey National in 1997. At the time I was told that as it was a 95% mortgage I would have to pay a "Mortgage Indemnity Guarantee" (M.I.G.) to cover them in case I defaulted. This was an up front payment of £650 which was added to my mortgage. I was in no doubt that I could cover the mortgage payments and made my view clear at the time, however it was a case of "take it or leave it" . As I was so far advanced in the house purchase I had to "take it" or risk losing the house.
My question is, would this M.I.G be PPI in another guise and would I be eligible to reclaim it and any interest paid over the years?0 -

Hi just wondering if someone can help us. My other half has received a letter from the ombudsman saying a company has agreed to refund premiums paid plus interest at 8%.
This was for personal income protection that wasnt wanted but couldnt have the loan to buy a car without.
The plan started in December 1995 and the last letter is dated 1999 but hes unsure if this could have continued longer.
There was a monthly payment of £9 for all this time and maybe longer.
Neither of us are particularly good at maths and just wondered if someone could roughly work this out for us so when they send the offer letter we have a clue as to whats what. Thank you0 -
Not sure where to with this one!! I took out a Yorkshire bank credit card in 1999 without PPI. But somehow in 2004 it was added to my card. They have written back today to say I can not claim it back as I called them and asked them to add it on!!!! I am 100% certain that I would have never had done this!! They have enclosed a copy of a letter they sent to me saying it had been added which I called and cancelled back in 2004 when I received it. It looks like the PPI wasnt removed when I called in 2004 to ask for it to be removed. I had no idea the PPI was still ongoing as the debt is now in the hands of a debt management company.
Their letter states that the decision is final.

Not sure where to with this one!! I took out a Yorkshire bank credit card in 1999 without PPI. But somehow in 1994 it was added to my card. I had no knowledge of this untill I wrote to them 8 weeks ago to ask if it had been applyed. HELP!!
Can't help you with this as it's all very confusing.
Either Yorkshire Bank can time travel or you have your dates mixed up :rotfl: You say that you took out a CC in 1999, then you say that PPI was added in 1994. That's 5 years before you had the card!!
You also say that you didn't know that PPI was added until 8 weeks ago, but then go on to say that you cancelled the PPI in 2004.
I can see why they are not upholding your claim if you explained your reasons for mis-sell as clearly as you have explained the situation here.0 -
