Do you have positive proof that your father was passed over in favour of your Mother?
If your Mother was eligible (not a student, unemployed or self employed) then she wasn't mis-sold on the basis that the Bank agreed a loan (&PPI) to her rather than your retired father.
Do you have positive proof that your father was passed over in favour of your Mother?
I'm afraid the Bank will definitely be able to show that there was sufficient information about the PPI not being compulsory both online generally and during the application process. I also don't see any way you can claim you were not aware of the PPI while at the same time stating that you thought it wasn't optional?
Do you have positive proof that "nothing was given or shown that PPI was optional and therefore was added onto the loans without us being aware."?
Frankly, with the reasons you have given, I'm surprised you haven't been served with a rejection.
Are they asking for the same evidence I have asked for in this post?
What else can I say here? It was added on when the loan was taken out meaning we weren't informed about PPI at all, wasn't aware that it was optional and this places it in the class of being mis-sold, correct?
There was NO mention of PPI being optional, no where on the paperwork and not mentioned in person just that to take out the loan my Father was not allowed to take out the loan as he could not get PPI so this again places it under mis-sold from what people are saying here? Basically being told it was compulsory.
I frankly see your reply as being quite rude, all I'm trying to do here is get some information on a situation I don't understand completely.
They are using delay tactics, as stated above as they do not ask for specific information just that they need more.0 -

I think Money is just pointing out to you how your claim will look from the bank's point of view. I would see it as the bank are giving me a chance to explain properly why I thought the insurance was missold.
Again I would say to you, if the insurance was added to the loan at the start and didn't show as a separate amount on each monthly statement, it was front loaded and this is the reason you should give for mis sale.0 -

What is the point in me just agreeing with the OP's weak complaint only for it to be subsequently rejected by the bank?my Father was not allowed to take out the loan as he could not get PPI so this again places it under mis-sold from what people are saying here?
It might be different if you could prove these allegations, but they are simply "hearsay" if you can provide no proof.gramochroi wrote: »Again I would say to you, if the insurance was added to the loan at the start and didn't show as a separate amount on each monthly statement, it was front loaded and this is the reason you should give for mis sale.
I do wonder at the Bank replying to his complaint allowing further responses. Most complaints are either upheld or rejected. It's FOS who are the arbiter here, though they'll want proof of the Op's accusations too.0 -

I can assure you (again) that the Bank will have solid evidence to show that their online application did say the PPI was optional.
Perhaps, if you hadn't accused me of being "rude", I might point out that a more likely complaint about an online application might be that the option to choose PPI was pre-ticked and had to be actively deselected?0 -
Hi there- this might be a silly question, but back in 2000 when I took out my first mortgage, my FA advised me that I needed a self assurance policy to cover it in the event anything happens to me. I got this through Scots Provident and 12 years on, despite having moved I am still paying this- as it is from a separate provider, I'm not sure if it is classed as PPI.
I'm afraid I no longer have the business details of the FA who set up the policy and the mortgage for me.0 -
