next letter from barclays was 9th of august ,not upholding my complaint, saying to me the have considered all evidence,[what evidence,i did not send them any/],and they will not enter into further correspondence, and i could write to th fos, what the next step for me.sorry again if i have posted in wrong place,i am hopless with computers
If you wrote and made a complaint, the "evidence" they will have considered will have been that uncovered by their own internal investigation. The FOS questionnaire is available to download from the FOS site (as well as this one), if you struggle to do this you could have gone to your local library or Citizen's Advice Bureau for help.

If you feel the Bank have unfairly rejected your complaint then you can refer it to the Ombudsman. You'll need valid complaint reasons if you hope to win, however.
Download the questionnaire (or get someone to do it for you, see above), fill it in and send it to FOS.

It's very hit-and-miss with Banking records. Although things are improving (!!!) only a short while ago Banks often had material in their archives which should have been destroyed and lacked details of finance they should have stored.
    Write to them regardless.

Thanks, Money. I realise each of the banks are different. He started his credit card in 1996. We have some statements up to end of 1999 and PPI was cancelled approx 18 months ago.

Just wondered is anybody had been told specifically by MBNA how long they keep cc records for.

You can expect the process to take a year or more, I'm afraid.
    Good luck!

If the T&C request was for closed accounts you won't ever get any of them as you are not entitled.

  • I've just received a nice little cheque from the Halifax. They've called it a redress cheque and have given no indication as to how they have arrived at the sum they sent me. I assume its the amount of PPI I have paid plus a bit of interest but don't actually know. Are they purposely being rather opaque or am I just a tad cynical?
  • Can anyone help, I had a loan with MBNA, it was a long ago, I don't have any details of dates, ref no.s etc, how would I go about trying to claim back PPI? Thank you, any help would be very much appreciated.:o:o
