PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

I have never posted anything on MSE before
For any accounts you don't have details of you have to write a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter. It costs £10 for each lender and they have 40 days to respond with all records they hold on you for at least the last six years and (sometimes) more.

Hi I have ongoing ppi complaints with Santander. One for an old cc and four for loans. They have upheld on one loan and looking for more details on others.
I sent acceptance and all bank statements for cc and three loans in two special deliveries. It shows santandar receiving them and although I have rang them several times these have gone missing. I spoke to a supervisor last week and was told to send in duplicates so they could get ball rolling again and they would look for statements etc. I also forwarded another acceptance form first class.
So I spent all afternoon copying statements from 1991 and sent them special delivery which they received Friday. I was away for weekend and the supervisor rang me to say they still looking for all documents now and havent even found last weeks. They have issued another acceptance form as the two have not been received.
I said this is a joke and was able to tell him the names of the ppl that signed for docs and asked if they worked for the company (I thought they would have traced them this way) and he said he wasnt sure who they were...
So he said I will ring you back sometime when I get news and I said thats not good enough, give me a time and date for you to ring back ...so we have left it for Friday but I do not hold up much hope of getting anywhere
apart from on getting on a plane and delivering by hand I do not know what else to do and worried now where are all my details at
have emailed ceo again ...any suggestions0 -

Have 2 PPI claims in at the moment - one for an M&S Money credit card which has been dragging on since June 2011 (been with the FOS since January) and one for a couple of HSBC loans (for front-loaded PPI) that's just over 12 weeks old... it's getting SO tiresome that these are taking such a long time - and yet other applicants (to judge from the Reclaiming Success & Failures thread) receive a decision in a matter of weeks or even mere days...
I can't even chase-up the HSBC one - as my account with them was closed over 5 years ago I can't remember my "telephone security number", so even though I correctly answer all my other security questions they won't allow me to discuss the matter with them! AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!
Phew. Glad to get that out. Sorry about that...
Hi ruth you would have had to answer several security questions when you set up your account place of birth, mothers maiden name etc they could ask you these, ring them up if you have forgotten your 6 digit number and ask them to run you through the additional questions.0 -

Hi jenny threaten to take it to the fos if they keep prevaricating0 -

The Branch did make rather a hash of it (by keeping me waiting for hours and being generally clueless), but it did eventually have the desired effect.
I also got an extra £200 compensation for my "trouble"
I don't think you should use the same method for additional evidence you want sending for your other complaint.0 -

Hoping you guys will be able to help. Long story so bear with me (and sorry if it has been discussed before!).
My husband had a CC with the PostOffice in 2008. We closed the card just before we moved house. About two years after we had moved we decided to look at our mortgage options; we applied for a new mortgage product to have it refused due to my husbands 'bad credit'.
I know, I know, should have checked before we applied for a new mortgage (lesson well and truly learned)!
Anyway, it turned out that the PostOffice had apparently not received our letter (despite the fact we had phoned to check) and therefore not closed the account and there was (unbeknown to us) a card payment protection policy on the account. Something that we wouldn't have needed as we had card protection withour paid bank account. They apologised, refunded the charges and said we could apply to remove the bad credit - it took just over three months to remove thebad credit, and we did all the leg work, circumstances changed, new mortgage deal not possible.
With all the talk about PPI we decided to call the PostOffice this morning to see if we could get a refund on what we had paid for this credit card protection plan. The woman we spoke to said that we aren't entitled to a refund as we had a card protection plan, not payment protection insurance.
Having read Martin's article I thought any 'protection' plan or insurance fell under the same bracket if it was mis-sold. I wanted to check my facts though before going back to them. Any advice?
Thank you!
I thought it was the same? (unless it,s to protect you losing your cards)0 -

I can't imagine the OP paid a lot of money for the policy either.
Since the original poster has already had a refund of this policy, I fail to see what she now expects is due to her?0 -
i was sold a mortgage for IF.com from a bradford and bingley advisor he also gave us the insurance against the mortgage. we didn't even realise we had the policy until we just checked. my wife was redundant for a while and never made a claim because we didn't know about the policy, do we try to claim from IF or Bradford and bingley? any help would be appreciated. thanks0

@Moneyineptitude
Just realised you joined in February, what a credit you are to this site. And from Liverpool too :j:T:j
Can I be as bold as to ask what it is you do? You must work for some sort of financial authority because you are hugely knowledgeable. Don't know what people would do without you.
