  • hi

does anybody know how i can claim ppi from dorothy perkins? i have none of the paperwork whatsoever and it was a few years ago when i took out the store card? i also have no account number for it or anything that i can remember as i shredded al the info?? ur help is much appreciated :D

did you make any payments on the card through your bank?
  • Absolutely.

now you have got me thinking!!!
  • Yes, your loan will be reworked and you should be paying substantially less per month.
You may want to consider paying off the loan completely, if you can afford it, in which case you'll have a whole lot more ready cash available to you.

Hi, paying it all off would be a really great thing to do but not sure I would be able to.
However I am waiting for a potential large inheritance pay out £25-£30k. What's the best to pay off, this secured 2nd charge on my property or all my unsecured loans, cards, store accounts?

A bit off topic for ppi thread I know, sorry!

How soon after sending the Ombudsman Questionnaire to my bank will it take to receive a response? Should i get a confirmation of receipt of the questionnaire? Or to put it another way, how long should i leave it before contacting my bank if i do not receive anything else through the post?

Well debts secured on your property could leave you homeless, so it's a no-brainer that these should take precedence!;)

They have eight weeks to respond fully to your complaint. You should, however, receive confirmation of receipt and a further letter informing you of "ongoing investigations".
Don't waste time and money on calls during this period.

    Hi All
I have been battling with TSB as I took out a loan with TSB in 1992 and the premium charged for the policy was £380.90 The loan was paid off early 1994 payment was £88.30 per month
Today i received a refund cheque of £1,511.78, but no letter, just said further to my letter of 5th Dec 11-I never received a letter.

I was also battling Clydesdale Bank for PPI took out in loan in July 1993 and paid it off in 1996. The PPI premium was £208.57. Payment £63.55 a month. I was turned down so went to FOS and they upheld it, I had to sign an acceptance form without any details of the figures and today on my bank statement I have been credited with £437.17

I know you can't be sure of figures but these don't seem comparable. Any thoughts?
Don't get me wrong I am pleased as I thought these claims were lost.

    HI
apologies now for a long hopefully cohert tread for some advice if poss.Have a feeling I have reached the end of the line with this

    background

Secured loan taken out in 1999 with then first national bank the loan was arranged thru loan lineLtd and added PPI to loan as a single premium however it only covered first 5 years of a 15 year agreement. The loan was reedemed in 2001 and full PPI paid in settlement figure.

    Action taken
After much reading and media info contacted reclaiming firm in 2008 who eventually allocated a solicitor to our case
Initially thought was statute barred which is why we took so long to act however solicitor disagreed .
I have contaced first national ( now GE) for SAR and they were able to supply me with statements showing payments made and the full and final settlement figure.....no other paperwork avaliable from them and us .
Went thru with solicitor on a CFA until sept 2010 who would only continue with our claim as a privet paying client as the firm felt under 50% success rate .

    why

Ge deny liability stating they had not sold the Policy and therefore should direct our claim to loan line.
Obviously very dissapointed but at least we didn't have to pay out for solicitor and we do think they tried hard for us .

    Next Step

Advised to contact fiancial ombudsman after further investigation FOS have reached a blank but hve a few suggestions which may just be useful. This was in July 2011
Sadly we have had a family member become seriosulu ill and pass away .....so have not really thought about PPI until now

    Present

I appreciate we may well have left things too long now however would jsut like a final stab at reclaiming as it makes my blood boil that we have not been able to get anyway with GE

    FOS advice

loanline notin 1999 covered by GISC or FOS however FOS states may be ableto pursue underwriter who provided policycover.

    problem 1
unable to indentify underwriter but if we can just maybe we will get our money back which is approx 10k

I belive the underwriters used by 1st natioanl at the time and could be one of 3
    • commercial union
    • cardiff pinicle
    • bennett gould
I am not quite sure how i came by this info as was last year but it is my writing so muct have phoned someone for this !!

    OUTCOME

the options I can see are for me to
    • give this up as a lost cause as too much time has passed
    • Hope one of you may be able to help me ascertain the underwriter and maybe then i can continue my battle....with help
    • listen to the advice from you all on here
Sorry for long email hope it makes sense and that someone can help me
    Thanks

    Hi there

So sorry to hear the sad news of a passing of a family member, my thoughts are with you.

And again sorry for what you have been through in this reclaiming issues.

Now in regards of underwriters, what I done was write to either the actual lender or broker and asked them to provide me with a copy of the loan policy details. (they should send these free on request) and this is something that you do not always received with copies of the loan documentation from when after you taken out the loan, it's something you ask for for example, if you need to make a claim, via unemployment/sickness etc.

So your first step here would be to write to the lender in this case, ask them to send you a copy of the loan documentation/policy.
Ask if they would be kind to post this to you within 7 to 14 days.

When this arrives, details of the underwriter/insurer are directly on this paperwork.

You can then try by writing to them and making a complaint on the mis selling and state they are also liable alongside with the broker who sold you the product, because it should have been checked by both parties to make sure it was a suitable product (or for whatever other reason you have as well), if this fails, the FOS will consider taking this on and checking what responsibility they also had when the product was sold to you.
And it's quite possible the underwriter/insurer were also regulated where the broker if an old loan may not have been,

My opinion is, do not give up, this is another direction the FOS will consider.
You could ask the FOS to write to them on your behalf with your reasons if you want to.

I do hope this helps, let me know if you require any further information, or please keep us posted.

    Good luck.;)

  • Hi all

I had a loan a few years back with Barclays but got rid of all the paperwork once I paid it off.

I now believe I have a claim for missold PPI but am unable to progress as I can't find the loan account number at all.

I found an old bank statement which had a number on it which I used to write to Barclays to request a copy of my original loan agreement however they wrote back to advise that the number I gave them was a BACS orginator reference and I would need to contact them with my loan account number to proceed.

I am at a loss now - does anyone know how I can find this?

PS. I've already got a copy of my credit report which only gives the last 4 digits of an account number on it....

    Thanks

    Hi there

    Bank statements perhaps??

Depending on how long ago the loan was and paid off, they should hold details over the last 6 years at least.
If your with the same bank now where the repayments of the loan were debited, and bank online, this may allow you to go back about 6 maybe 7 years.

The loan account number is generally shown next to the monthly repayment.

Another way would be to request a SAR, again if you banked with them, with a SAR they should provide you with details of all accounts you taken out with them over the last 6 years, some will hold data for even longer, you can use the bank account number for a SAR request, they then have 40 calendar days to comply, you enclose the one off payment of £10 by cheque or postal order.

I would try the free way first though, because as long as you got the loan account number that is fine in order to continue your reclaiming complaint.

Hope this helps, but if you do the Subject access request (SAR) there is a letter template here below, good luck.
