    thanks

do i send them all a letter in which case which one or the cc that are still open can i just call them and ask if ppi is or has ever been on them ?
You can just call and ask, the CC that are open should show PPI on each monthly statement, if it does, then put the claim in.

Send proof of unemployment, and college, you could have claimed on the unemployment part of the PPI.
If you did not work or only worked a few hours when you went to college the PPI would not have covered you anyway so stipulate this, also put that although the box was ticked for PPI, why would you not have used this insurance when you needed to, also put the reasons for mis sell that you put into the card company, if you had other means to pay this card back should the worst happen then put that, show that you did not need this PPI.

    thank you for your reply

i was employed when i got the c/card and changed jobs and then lost my job. at that point decided to re-study for a career change and did not work whilst at college.
i got in touch with mbna or they got in touch with me as they were chasing me as i struggled with payments and i advised them i was no longer in employment.
all they did then was to make reduced payment plan arrangement with me and no mention of ppi or claiming.

not sure what reasons to put re mis-selling(sorry a bit new to this)
    thanks in advance!

Had some fair advice on thread with thanks, so thought I would offer up my success and failures so far as a bad day today.

Just under £4k courtesy of Halifax and hopefully a bigger one to come but for some reason it has taken longer than the first claim..

Now to my bad news this morning; Lloyds have refused my claim for 2 loans which should total about £15k so very upset.

The laugh here is that they have already agreed to pay £3k for 2 smaller loans, although I feel there is a sinister plot.

First time I called Lloyds and gave them the details I had, they said that was all the loans they could find and whilst I told them there were 2 later ones, they said they could not find...!

So said the PPI was front loaded, told had to have the insurance and fully paid benefits etc. from work. I got the acknowledgement letter and all it said was that I had said I did not understand the cover, picked up the phone and told them inaccurate and to include other reasons. They have upheld this one.

By absolute fluke I found the other paperwork about 8 weeks ago and was straight on the phone as could see PPI was a total amount added at the front (assume this is front loaded) and then apportioned within the monthly payment (in 2002 and 2004 loans started)

Told them the same reasons, although when I did not get an acknowledgement letter chased them and they said they would send another. 4 weeks in and still no acknowledgement and chased again (this is all on the Lloyds system) and then chased again last week.

Got a letter today stating that my reasons of not told it was optional (bit of blarb about doing the right sales things) and not explained (some leaflet blarb) and it was being refused.

Called them up and said this was rubbish as gave more reasons than this including that it was front loaded (potential dealbreaker?) and can they have another looked.

Checked with the manager and told to get lost and to go to ombudsman if I wanted.

They already have a credit card I had at the Ombudsman and now pushing me there again.

Surely this is a bit naughty and dragging it out.

Everything was the same as the first loans, I only ever saw the same salesman who told me the same rubbish and therefore the only difference was that the loans ppi was more on the latter ones and I actually had better protection through work!!

I sent the credit card appeal to the ombudsman 4 weeks ago and not heard a bean - is this usually the case?

Any positive words of support welcome - genuinely thought they were nailed on...!

Curse Lloyds and maybe I am overthinking it but if I had not been lazy and sent in the forms instead may have had a better result...

Well done on others wins, these institutions are merciless so good to see so many positive results....!

First of all well done on the one's you succeeded on.

Have you tried writing to the CEO about this?
It may help, but otherwise if they have confirmed it being final maybe it would be a good idea now to complain to the FOS.

When you complete the FOS complaints form, enclose copies of the correspondence you do have, such as the final decision letter (copy), this will save time later on, and in your case, when they ask on the complaints form of what you want them to do to put this right, confirm you want to be refunded all you have paid of the PPI, the relevent interest, and also further redress for the distress and inconvenience this have caused you.
However, just thought (suggestion), wonder if your local MP would be of any help of writing to the bank first on your behalf, sometimes this helps.

It's up to you of course, but please let us know how you get on from here, the best of luck and keep at them.;)

Just put that when you made the reduced payments, the PPI was not mentioned, with regards to cancelling this or making a claim on it due to your circumstances, then put the reasons you gave to MBNA when you put the mis sell claim in.

Hi all, been a few weeks since I have been on here but I got back from my holiday on Friday to find a letter from Halifax saying they wanted to make an offer, I then opened up another envelope to find a cheque for just under under £11k. Just wanted to say a Massive THANKS for those who gave me advice leading up to my claim.

    Evening all,
Hope I'm posting on the right bit. I'm trying to reclaimPPI on a Blackhorse car loan which I finished paying a few years ago. I can't locate the loan agreement and despite giving them all of the information I can think of Blackhorse are saying they cannot find evidence of an agreement! The details of the loan are on my credit report showing the payments I made and the date it was settled however unfortunately just shows the last four digits of the account number. I have phoned and written to Blackhorse and am coming up against a brick wall - any advice please?!!!

    Thanks,

    Sandra

    Hi Sandra,

I had exactly the same problem. I went to my bank and asked them to look up my old direct debit detaits. Payment dates I was able to check through my bank statements. Admittedly the Lady in the Bank was very helpful. After about 10 minutes hey presto she printed me out my payment details to Black Horse and listed was the payee reference number ie your account details with Black Horse. Hope this helps and good luck.;)
  • Hi can anyone give me an info

Hi, im new at this, and not sure if this is where i should be posting this but I am wanting to try and claim back some PPI but not sure if its valid or who to apply to.
I took out my mortgage with northern rock but through a mortgage adviser, back in 2006 i also took out the PPI with the mortgage adviser through payment shield, i was informed that it was something that i had to do as my husband was selfemployed, one of those sales patters dont take it might not get the mortgage, risk loosing the house blah blah blah.
Looking at the policy schedule, my husband is self employed and the cover is for disability and unemployment?? am i right in thinking we wouldnt have been covered anyway?? Not really wanting to use a collection company i want to do it myself but not sure who i would apply to, to claim back as northern rock are no more and it was purchased through an adviser......please can someone shed some light.........:/
  • Has anyone had any experience of a claim with Halifax Bank of Scotland loans?

    Regards, Shaz

I did post this yesterday morning, I'm sorry to post it again, but I really need advising on this:

I got a reply from Mint today, they are not playing ball at all.
Thank you for your letter dated 8/5/12, which was recieved into this office on 10/5/12.

Your request for documents contains some misconceptions about your entitlement to information in a specific form and our obligations to supply that information.

As you are aware this account has been fully repaid, and therefore, there is no active agreement between Mint Credit Cards and you with regards to the above account.

The Consumer Credit Act is for active agreements and therefore we are under no obligation to provide you with the requested documents as your obligations to us under the agreement have ended.

I trust this clarifies matters for you.

What's my next move? I'm not even sure if there was PPI on it.
