PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Just been reading my friends PPI T&C's on his loan. He and his Wife took out a joint loan with LTSB which is now ended to term. I noticed that the Insurance small print stated that only the lead name on the loan was covered for the insurance. Is this normal? He said he was unaware and obviously had not read the small print, but assumed they where both covered for the loan?. If his wife fell ill then they may have struggled to re-pay the premiums. He was shocked and said this was not explained to them when they took out the loan. I have a chain of loans going through the claims procedure at the mo one of which is a joint loan I took out with my wife, Not sure if my insurance is the same as his?. Just wondering if my friend should use this information as part of his complaint ? His main complaint is that he was sold a Single premium Policy.0

Bit Worried.
I rang RBS the other day to chase up my Terms and conditions (needed policy number) so I could complete my claim form which was already to post.
I spoke to a woman who asked if it was in relation to PPI? I said yes, and before I knew it she was taking the complaint over the phone. I think I was caught on the back foot a little and not really prepared for this process. As I still bank with them she asked for my bank details at the start which I thought was normal relating to my request, and she said she had all my loan details on screen. She then asked me why I was ringing to complain? I said I rang up for my policy number so I could complete my forms. No she said why are you complaining about your PPI? I wasn't really prepared so I took a deep breath and said that it had been brought to my attention in the media about mis-sold PPI. This is not about what you may or may not have read in the media she said. I will ask you again what is your complaint about? I told her I had been sold a Single premium policy. I will ask you again she said what exactly is your complaint about the insurance and why do you think it was mis-sold to you? By this time I was in a bit of a flap as I'm quite a timid lass. I think I just said I think i was mis-sold a Single premium policy. Right she said I have written that down and you will here form us soon. Wish I hadn't phoned now. It felt almost like I was on trial. Stark contrast to the Lady at First Plus who was really helpful and even wished me a lovely weekend. Just hope I have said everything I should have and not messed up my chances with RBS of upholding my claim.0 -

The PPI would have still been on the loan when this was passed over, they should take the whole PPI off the loan, this reduces the balance you owe, you should get the PPI back that you have paid to date with the interest.
Get back in touch with them and ask that they fully redress the loan to the present day, if they say they have ask for proof of what they have done and how they did this, if they only redressed the PPI to the date it was passed over, this is wrong.
Thanks Amersall! I will try it.
Does anyone have a contact email for HFC please? Ive been emailing HSBC and they said they have forwarded my emails but think they are getting annoyed about it.
Thanks!!0 -
Evening all,
Hope I'm posting on the right bit. I'm trying to reclaimPPI on a Blackhorse car loan which I finished paying a few years ago. I can't locate the loan agreement and despite giving them all of the information I can think of Blackhorse are saying they cannot find evidence of an agreement! The details of the loan are on my credit report showing the payments I made and the date it was settled however unfortunately just shows the last four digits of the account number. I have phoned and written to Blackhorse and am coming up against a brick wall - any advice please?!!!
Thanks,
Sandra0 -
Just want to say I have asked for info quite a few times on here and you guys have been great. I sent a letter to tesco myself regarding ppi from a loan back in 2004 and they have asked for no other information and i have received a cheque in the post today for £623. Just shows you dont need these companies to do it for you, Good luck to all!!0

Had some fair advice on thread with thanks, so thought I would offer up my success and failures so far as a bad day today.
Just under £4k courtesy of Halifax and hopefully a bigger one to come but for some reason it has taken longer than the first claim..
Now to my bad news this morning; Lloyds have refused my claim for 2 loans which should total about £15k so very upset.
The laugh here is that they have already agreed to pay £3k for 2 smaller loans, although I feel there is a sinister plot.
First time I called Lloyds and gave them the details I had, they said that was all the loans they could find and whilst I told them there were 2 later ones, they said they could not find...!
So said the PPI was front loaded, told had to have the insurance and fully paid benefits etc. from work. I got the acknowledgement letter and all it said was that I had said I did not understand the cover, picked up the phone and told them inaccurate and to include other reasons. They have upheld this one.
By absolute fluke I found the other paperwork about 8 weeks ago and was straight on the phone as could see PPI was a total amount added at the front (assume this is front loaded) and then apportioned within the monthly payment (in 2002 and 2004 loans started)
Told them the same reasons, although when I did not get an acknowledgement letter chased them and they said they would send another. 4 weeks in and still no acknowledgement and chased again (this is all on the Lloyds system) and then chased again last week.
Got a letter today stating that my reasons of not told it was optional (bit of blarb about doing the right sales things) and not explained (some leaflet blarb) and it was being refused.
Called them up and said this was rubbish as gave more reasons than this including that it was front loaded (potential dealbreaker?) and can they have another looked.
Checked with the manager and told to get lost and to go to ombudsman if I wanted.
They already have a credit card I had at the Ombudsman and now pushing me there again.
Surely this is a bit naughty and dragging it out.
Everything was the same as the first loans, I only ever saw the same salesman who told me the same rubbish and therefore the only difference was that the loans ppi was more on the latter ones and I actually had better protection through work!!
I sent the credit card appeal to the ombudsman 4 weeks ago and not heard a bean - is this usually the case?
Any positive words of support welcome - genuinely thought they were nailed on...!
Curse Lloyds and maybe I am overthinking it but if I had not been lazy and sent in the forms instead may have had a better result...
Well done on others wins, these institutions are merciless so good to see so many positive results....!0 -

They should have paid the PPI from the statements you gave them, you did send copies of these?.
Write back to them and ask them to redress the statements you gave, if you can get hold of them by phone, then do that.
Well guess what - they only scanned 1 statement out of the 36 I sent to them so the refund is just for 1 month. Have now been told to resend them and they will look at again so looks like another 24 week wait. Whilst on the phone I asked about another claim that I had made and what a surprise they had only scanned 2 of the 20 statements I had sent and still have not had a final response for this one but been waiting 18 weeks. So again when I receive a reply they will only be looking at 2 months statements.
To everyone - if you have sent any paperwork to Lloyds please phone them to make sure they have scanned everything on to their system as in my case I am claiming back to 2002 and the only evidence they have to do a refund is my statements. I have waited 6 months for a refund and all this time they only had 1 statement scanned in. Human error here means that I now have another long wait and would hate to think anyone else has to go through this if it can be avoided.0
