Have i done the right thing putting in a claim
Yes you have, the SP reason is the most upheld of all PPI reclaims, regardless of the loan and PPI being signed for, the facts are that this PPI would not have been explained to you in full regarding the cost or the unfair pro rata rebate they give for early settlement of the loan or the cancellation of the PPI.

Give the Halifax until lunchtime tomorrow, if they have not got back in touch by then, put the claim in over the telephone.

The only RBS thing the Claims co has is the credit card, I have the actual loan ones.
You have given the claims co the right to reclaim all PPI you have with the RBS when you signed the contract, when you put a claim into a bank for the mis sell of PPI, the bank sometimes look at other credit that you have had with them and redress accordingly, I hope they do not notify the claims co regarding the loans you have done your self, wait and see if the claims co ask for money for the loans you have done yourself.

This is still running, its a secured loan, taken out in 2007 for 8 years I read nightmare stories about FP
Yours is easy to claim due to it being 2007 and FP are mellowing in their old age !!.

Have you signed a contract with this company and are they waiting for paperwork from you or FP to continue the claim? if they have not put the complaint into FP yet, then tell them you do not wish to proceed with this loan through them.

I will help you do the claim for FP (I will tell you what to put in your complaint ) let FP know, if you do the claim, that you are doing the claim and are not using a third party.
Thanks for your answers, you are a star

I know :D:D only kidding :):) I am pleased to help.

I requested the data on his behalf they have sent a massive pack of paperwork that makes little sense to me as it's codes and numbers.

There is details of loan payments but nothing for the PPI, even though he knows he has paid it for yeears.

They have failed to provide data for one of the loans as it was pre 1994 and two of the credit cards from 1998 and a credit card which closed in 2005.

Im not sure what I need too write back.
The older loan and cards info may have been destroyed due to the year, if it has then you cannot claim mis sell for these if you have no info either.

If you have the account number for the loan, then put the claim in for mis sell and see what they come back with.

    Hello again
I wanted some help if possible i have had 3 loan claims upheld from the bank from 1987, 1989 and 1993, (1993 loan is only paperwork i have) luckily each loan refinance the other although i had to put in separate claims for each. The banks excuse was because it was so long ago they weren't linked on the system. When I took my last loan out they offered me a credit card, which i know had PPI on, although I haven't got any paperwork, just the number, so i put in a claim for that. I received a 3 page rejection letter last month turning me down saying that PPI was suitable, policy was fit and it was optional and finally that their seller acted reasonably with the sale of PPI.
I emailed the CEO asking that this rejection be reinvestigated and today received a letter saying that they are sorry but they now cant find any proof of PPI but as compensation they will send me £100 for my distress.
Any one had any similar experience and as I don't have any further proof I feel that I am now stuck. Any suggestions please
    Thank you
As the card was 93 and neither you or the bank have proof that PPI was paid, looks like you will have to let this one go, the data will have been destroyed and if they cannot find this then they can reject the claim.

    Hi all,

HSBC sent me a questionnaire to complete re missold PPI and on 23rd April they sent me a letter to say that they would reply in 4 weeks with an update and I would be given a redress summary in 8 weeks. 6 weeks later and no update, I rang the 'direct line' they gave on the letter which is just a recorded message saying 'don't worry, we will contact you shortly'!!

Also sent the questionnaire from this site off to Cap1 - I am expecting a 'Sod off' reply from them, when I shall take it further, I have been paying them at least £10 a month for at least 5 years!

Any ideas how long these may take?

Many thanks for your help :D

At the moment is a waiting game I am afraid, some banks are quick and some are not :) give them time to respond to you and then take it from there.

Hi. Sorry if this is an obvious question. I've been letting this PPI thing go over my head as I knew I didn't have any loans, but now have started wondering if there might be a PPI element included with my Tesco Credit card? I've had it for so long I can't remember when I first took it out, so goodness knows where the original paperwork might be. Would I just ring Tesco to ask if there's a PPI element included? Or don't Tesco tend to go down the PPI route anyway? I haven't seen their name mentioned so far in the forum threads I've looked at.
Is this card still running or closed?.
If you had PPI then it is shown on every monthly statement as a separate payment, if you have no statements then ring Tesco and ask if you had PPI.

A while ago after hearing the miss-sold stories in the press i checked my statements and was surprised to see this cover there.
All you need to make a complaint is the card number and reasons for mis sell, if they gave you a copy of the agreement it may not show PPI as this was sometimes added at a later date.
  • I guess i will just have to wait and see what egg comes back to me with. I defaulted on the loan in early 2009 and had it readdressed with lower payments, longer period of time. He said some ppi had been reembursed and would go towards the balance of the new loan but that they would not be able to offer ppi cover on the new loan. Is this because they could no longer sell or provide ppi. Will this amount of i think it was a little over £500 be deducted off any payment that may be made to me. Also will they use the money to pay off debt still owed to them which stands at a little over £3000 or should i get a cheque. Could they forward this on to Moorgate as they took over my loan last year, does this make reclaiming more difficult or are they legally liable?

I will give Halifax a ring tomorrow and see what they say.

Im hoping all this is going to be simple but im betting im gonna have to work for it.
  • My husband had PPI for years. Following surgery and unable to work for a while he made a claim on his policy, but was told that because he was 'self employed' he wasn't entitled to claim on it.

Recently lodged PPI Claim using standard form from FSA website. Got letter last week advising that a cheque for almost £13,000 would be sent to him within 28 days.

    I call that success.:j
  • Aw thats great news. Well done!!
