Hi me and my ex partner remortgaged in 2009 and before we were able to proceed we were told we needed to take out additional insurance of the sum off 799.68 to cover us for a years Accident, sickness & unemployment Policy, i have proof of this , whereby we had to sign and payment would go straight to Diamond Lifestlye before we received any additional monies from the remortgage. Note we was told we had to take this cover or we could not remortgage. It was a one off payment I have a letter from the insurers a year later asking us to renew the claim which we never did....A company under the name of ABC tried to re claim it for me but was declined as they required the necessary paperwork ( which I have) but decided to take a look into it myself? please any advice would be much appreciated :) sonia......from what i have seen people are paying monthly premiums, i myself paid a year in full am i entitled to claim and if so how much????? thanxs all replys welcome :):j

I shall apologise now for the long post, i started my claiming process at the begining of April after finding this site.
I currently have 7 claims with Barclays for consolidated loans and front loaded ppi on all, 1 with Barclaycard my reason is i didnt ask for it and didnt require it same reason for my Egg cc and virgin cc. I have a claim for AA on a loan, my reason is i didnt know it was on didnt ask for it and front loaded same reason for my Lombard direct loan. I was just wondering if these reasons are generally successful and do you normally have to wait the full 8 weeks or do they respond before, it will be 5 weeks monday since complaints.Any replys would be great, its the longest 8 weeks ever. haha thanks in advance
They have 8 weeks to give you a final decision, it is possible you will find out sooner but they could write and ask for more time.
    Hope you hear soon.

Thanks to this website I have successfully rec'd 10K in mis-sold PPI from Santander & RBS - quick and easy - thank you!

We have been customers of RBS 20+ years and have had a credit card for this length of time. I would describe us as good customers using our card for large purchases and paying off without delay, never missing a payment in 20 years. This week without warning I discovered RBS Visa had reduced our credit limit from 15K to £350 overnight! On enquiry I discover there reason for doing this is because they could not find our credit agreement singed in 1992 (seemingly misfiled!) - I assume they found this out when investigating our PPI claim. This is there only reason for reducing our credit limit. To say we are furious is an understatment - it feels very much like bullying tactics by RBS based on the fact that we have reclaimed mis-sold PPI! - currently going through the complaints procedure - but once PPI monies offerred are in our account I can assure you I will be closing every account I have with RBS! even after 20+ years. If this is how they treat good customer god help the bad customers! Any advice much appreciated.
If they could not find your credit agreement then they have reduced the limit as they cannot chase you for the debt due to having no agreement, they are allowed to this I am afraid as you asked for the agreement, you could use the full 15,000 and not pay this back, they may have the agreement somewhere but have done this to prevent you using the card until it is found.
If you paid PPI on this account and have reasons for mis sell you should just make the claim.
You should contact them and do the reclaim, tell them this is what you wanted to do originally, don't know if this will help with the limit amount though, but you can try.

Thanks amersall. My initial concern was that the contract might have had loopholes or subclauses that prevented any action on my part, but it appears to be more to do with what was said at the time?

At least one of those reasons applies. I was also on a fixed-term contract at the time and the way in which the loan was administrated was a really poor. I'm not sure whether either of those would add any weight to a (potential) claim.

The insurance is a monthly premium paid with the loan by DD.

So you made one payment to the loan for both? if so this is Single premium PPI and this is a reason to use, this was in fact a loan on the loan that you paid to term end with interest, used the fixed term contract too, had your term finished you would not have been able to claim on the unemployment part of the PPI because you knew you would be unemployed when the contract ended.

Thanks so much for your reply. Not sure if Im missing the point though? I thought my loan was with First Plus. I unearthed an old redemtpion statement from when we paid off the loan and it was First Plus on the letterhead and no mention of any broker. Would First Plus have made the broker known to me?
Any thoughts on the HSBC query? Hopefully that one is more straightforward?

    Hi

I have not gone back to any other posts you may have posted earlier, as there are so many to get through lol, but normally whoever set up and sold you the policy from the start of the application are the ones who you pursue for the complaint.

The main or all of the paperwork, will still be that of the lender who takes the monthly repayments.;)

Well its week 7 of my HSBC complaint... Hopefully I'll hear something soon! I have received acknowledgement from Direct Auto Finance of my complaint with a request to fill in a PPI questionnaire. Hopefully they'll come back with a positive response... :) Hope everyone has a lovely day!

  • This is all very confusing, I have made a claim to Penriican Credit LTD for my PPI, they say that they where not regulated before 2005 and the the so called loan was made in 2003. My beef is this, no matter when or where the lone was made, the car company still solld me the PPI wrongly, regardless pf when they where regulated. So dose anyone know the next step I should take to reclaim my PPI.
    Thanks.
