Hi there wonder if anyone can help me with this? Took out an A&L CC in 1999 and in 2003 it was taken over by MBNA. Phoned MBNA to find out details and they started claim over phone. Within 8 weeks I had money from them , they said PPI was not mis-sold but as a goodwill gesture would refund all PPI from when MBNA took over. This has been paid. They stated that they would send details to original lender to reclaim PPI for 1999-2003. It has been some time now and when I phoned MBNA they said to phone Santander to find out how claim was progressing. Did this but Santander said they did not buy CC part of A&L so they are not responsible. Any thoughts as to where I go from here. Many thanks.
Hi there
I thought it was Santander that did take over and take on the liabilities of A&L, but could be mistaken.
A suggestion would be is to contact the general free customer FOS line, tell them your position here, and maybe they would know who are responsible, as they would have dealt with many customer complaints through all these you posted.
However, the FOS are only open during office hours and until 1pm on Saturday's, if your able to contact them during those hours and give them a call, just as a general query, meanwhile if anyone has been in the same position, then hopefully they will post up soon, good luck.

this all new to me and not sure where i stand, we have no paper work and phoned halifax last week who helpfully gave us the account numbers for our past loans with them and advised us that 3 of them had ppi on.
back then we were told we had to have ppi to get the loan as we have no paper work how will we prove this?
a friend as told us halifax are just paying out automatically as they admit back then ppi was misold is this correct?0 -

Hiya
Have you also tried asking for the papework?
By calling into the branch?
It is known that by calling into the branch directly, they can search the systems and try tracking them down free of charge, of another way if this fails, would be to request the paperwork by doing a Subject Access Request (SAR).
With a SAR they must send all they hold on all accounts by the bank, so if you banked with them, they should send you details of all loans, credit cards and so on.
The SAR asks for an account number, so they can try tracking the data down, so you apply the account number to the SAR template.
You enclose the one off payment of £10 cheque or postal order, they have up to 40 calendar days to comply.
If you've not done this and want to request for the above, the SAR letter template is on the link here below.

Also to add, that it's possible they will look through all the accounts you taken with them automatically as recommended by the FSA, so yes this will possibly apply to you too, that they will pay out automatically if they suspect you were also mis sold.
Going by your reasons - in my opinion you do have a case here. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
thanks
i phoned up and halifax loan department and they gave me all the account numbers and then transferred me to the ppi complaints team who recorded the complaint and advised me all information would be in there archives and would be in contact within 8 weeks.0 -
Hi Guys
I appreciate any advice as I find this completely confusing.
Short story, we took out a mortgage in 2006 through an independant mortgage advisor. We were told that in order to get the mortgage we had to take out Building insurance, and payment protection. So we went with this.
The MPPI is through Payment Shield, and has cost us £43 per month for the last 6 years.
I have always assumed we had no claim for mis sold PPI because as far as I was concerned we knew we were taking out PPI. However, when looking into it now it seems that because we were told we had to take out this insurance in order to get the mortgage, this is indeed missold. Is this correct?
I have checked the policy documents we got at the start, and within the 27 page booklet there is a section headed "Changing your mind" which does say the policy is optional.
The company the mortgage advisor worked through has since gone bust. So do we have grounds for a claim? And who do we claim from?
Many thanks
