    Hi All,

I have just realised that PPI was added to a personal secured loan I applied for about 6 years ago. My question is the loan is not from a bank but a finance company. Can I re-claim the PPI?

    Thanks

    Hi all,

My wife and I purchased a Dining Table and Chairs suite from DFS Furniture on 26/03/2007. We believe we were mis-sold PPI as despite having the resources and stability to pay for the suite in full, for convenience we opted to pay for the suite via their 24 months 0% credit offer.

After a successful claim by myself against Northern Rock for mis-sold PPI on a personal loan I took with them a few years ago, I had a look at our old paperwork and found PPI was on the suite order. So we decided to make a claim.

The credit was provided by HFC Bank but they told us we would have to claim against the seller DFS which we duly did. Long story short they have this week refused to honour our claim.

The linked scans of our letters from them and the Deceleration Form they sent us and we filled in pretty much tell the story (Edited to remove our personal information first). I am baffled by their text in the final letter "We have now reviewed the Deceleration form that... etc." and subsequent "This confirms that you were eligible for the policy and indicates that you did not have sufficient cover to protect your loan in the event of loss of income due to accident, sickness, unemployment or loss of life". Since when does answering Yes to their questions and stating that we had 100% sufficient resources at our disposal constitute "that you did not have sufficient cover"?

The amount owed accrues to 24 monthly payments of £5.19 a month so not a huge amount to claim, but to me it is principal at stake here rather than financial gain. I am disgusted at their attitude and will make sure that neither I nor anyone I know ever shops with their company again.

I would just like Members views on how or if to proceed any further?

I have tried to post the links to my uploaded images but I keep getting the error message "Sorry as a new user you are not allowed to post with links. This is done to stop spammers clogging up the site. Please edit your message below to continue." So I have had to remove the links.

I can see the reasons for this rule but it does make this post pretty pointless if I can't even link to the documents I am referring to. If anyone would like to help me and wishes to see the document scans please can they let me know how I can provide them with the links? Perhaps it has to be done privately.
    Best regards,

    Hi Folks.
Newbie here, needing some info if at all possible.
Up until July 2009 I had a sky card, which closed down around this time. I believe that I was being charged payment protection which I never asked for, and every time I asked for clarification all I got was vague answers about "payment holidays". I now want to check if I was indeed sold payment protection under another guise.
I still have my original sky card acc. number but the website is unobtainable, so I need to know who to get in touch with regarding this matter.
Any information would be appreciated. I`m sure that some of you MSE experts would have been in a similar situation at some time.
    Heres hoping. Fred W

    This means
"you were advised that you could get the loan if you had ppi"

    This
"when i took the loans out i was told i could only have the loan if i had the ppi (no ppi no loan)"
    Worded differently.

Contact Sky and ask for an address but I think this card was provided initially by Barclays, would not hurt to give them a ring and ask too.

If anyone has had dealings with these I am sure they will post up and let you know.

Does not matter what the letter says, if you could cover the payments if ill, unemployed or dead! you had no need of this PPI:rotfl:
I would write back to them and say you disagree with the rejections as at the point of sale you said you were adequately covered elsewhere, put the cover you had in place, ask them to reconsider or you will pass this to the FOS.

Yes you can if you were mis sold the Insurance.
Who is the company and did you pay this PPI in with Loan payment each month?.

    Hi Guys

I appreciate any advice as I find this completely confusing.

Short story, we took out a mortgage in 2006 through an independant mortgage advisor. We were told that in order to get the mortgage we had to take out Building insurance, and payment protection. So we went with this.

The MPPI is through Payment Shield, and has cost us £43 per month for the last 6 years.

I have always assumed we had no claim for mis sold PPI because as far as I was concerned we knew we were taking out PPI. However, when looking into it now it seems that because we were told we had to take out this insurance in order to get the mortgage, this is indeed missold. Is this correct?

I have checked the policy documents we got at the start, and within the 27 page booklet there is a section headed "Changing your mind" which does say the policy is optional.

The company the mortgage advisor worked through has since gone bust. So do we have grounds for a claim? And who do we claim from?

    Many thanks

    Tatsky

    Hi Andy

If you bank with the same bank where you paid the loan monthly repayments, you could call in to the branch and ask them to check the systems, you may be lucky, you never know until you ask.

Not saying you would have kept any paperwork lol, but maybe in a box in a loft somewhere perhaps of any old statements??
Just a suggestions, but many have found old paperwork this way.

Anyway, if you can just try getting hold of the account numbers and sure you paid ppi, you can just continue to make a reclaim by completing the reclaim questionnaire and send to the ones responsible to selling it to you.
Otherwise, just write to them with as many details as possible in order for them to try tracking down your details.

    Fingers crossed.;)
Great idea, i'll certainly give it go.. i'll let you know how i get on.
