  • Ooooh thanks again amersall for such a quick response:D

    I would be so so grateful if you could point me in the right direction, as I do indeed have the monthly PPI for each loan as follows;

    Loan 1 - £24.99 start 02/2001 settled 01/2002
    Loan 2 - £33.49 start 01/2002 settled 12/2002
    Loan 3 - £42.13 start 12/2002 settled 11/2003
    Loan 4 - £47.31 start 11/2003 settled 09/2004

    have I missed anything:question:

Put the dates, amounts and year of each PPI amount, it will keep a total for you of the 8%, as the loan is closed you will get all the total PPI back less the rebates you got, this calculation is purely for the 8% amount.

Forgive me amersall, but I'm still somewhat confused:( Will I get interest right up to the present day on all 4 separate loans, or just on the payments I made during the life of each loan?
  • Hi,

I posted this elsewhere, but was advised to re-post here in the hope someone could advise.

I lodged two complaints with MBNA regarding mis-sold PPI.

The first was taken out in 2005, and this was rolled into a consolidation loan in 2006.

I received a letter from them saying they could not trace them and asked me to call, which I did. The asked me 'security questions' on both loans including how much they were for, and for how long.

I then got a letter from them saying they needed more time to investigate, but the letter subject referred only to the second loan.

I now have a letter saying that the complaint has been upheld in my favour, but again, the subject was only the second loan and made no mention of the first.

Could it be that they are treating both complaints as one? I also wondered if anyone could suggest a 'ball park' figure of how much I will receive (I have tried to work it out, but I'm getting nowhere).

First loan was for £6750 + insurance advance of £1458 + interest for PPIof £312. This was consolidated in November 2006, with a loan of £10,000 + PPI £3898 + PPI interest of £1,167. Second loan is over 87 months and still has 22 months left to run. Any help would be very gratefully received, as it will take them up to six weeks to get back to me again

Interest on the PPI for each loan is included in the total PPI, this is why the single premium is frowned upon, you are getting this back so you only need the 8% figure.

I now have a letter saying that the complaint has been upheld in my favour, but again, the subject was only the second loan and made no mention of the first.

Ring them and ask, it is possible as one consolidated the other they have found this and done the one calculation to take both into account.
First loan was for £6750 + insurance advance of £1458 + interest for PPIof £312.
You will get the PPI total back with the interest, less the rebate they gave you for the PPI when you consolidated this, this rebate will depend on how long the loan ran for before it was settled, in the early period the rebate may have been a decent amount, you then get the 8%, this amount is taxable if you are a taxpayer.
£10,000 + PPI £3898 + PPI interest of £1,167. Second loan is over 87 months and still has 22 months left to run.

This loan, as it is still running will be redressed in full, the total PPI amount and interest will be taken off the balance of the loan, this will reduce your monthly loan payment by the monthly PPI amount, the PPI you have paid each month to date will be given back to you and you again, get the 8%. The total PPI on this loan was £5,065.00, divide this over the term of 87 months gives you a monthly payment of £58.21 times this by the months you have paid to date 65, gives you PPI to reclaim of £3,783.65 give or take a bit, depending on when the first payment was made and when they redress too.
