It depends on your tax rate and the amount of savings interest you've earned already.
You could end up needing to pay some additional tax.0 -
Thanks, I have no saving interest and I am just basic rate tax, I have paid 1504.00 in tax, and im not sure if I get the 1000 back or is it 20% of it

Just fill in R40

Be sure you claim only for the interest amount, not the gross redress you were paid.0 -

Yes I have thanks, but just wondering how much I was likely to get back, I didn't know if it would be £1000 or the tax on it which would be £2000 -

I'd wait and see what HMRC say, unless you want to publish all your personal finances here..0 -
I've used the MSE Resolver tool to try to reclaim PPI but now Santander have responded with a 9 page form to complete. All the info they are asking for was supplied in the original Resolver form and they have not even bother to use my reference so that I can link it back to the specific product claim. Is this just playing for time and do I have to give all the information again when they already have it, or can I just point them back to my original claim?
Thanks0 -

No, fill Santander's own form out. You have just caused a delay by going through a third party ie Resolver (which is part owned by MSE). Santander have no point in 'playing for time' as it will cost them more in the long run if your complaint is successful due to the ongoing 8% interest they will be paying eventually.0 -
You can do it online and it will be quicker. We didn’t use the paperwork.0

Hi All.
I wonder if anyone can help.
I took out a mortgage with GE Money in 2004 involving a mis-sold PPI.
GE rejected my PPI claim in 2016 on the basis that the mortgage was taken out before they were registered with FCO and referred me to the broker at the time. This was "Wessex Group" based in Winchester. I had no luck tracking down the company at that time - I wonder if anyone can help me?
Also, GE Money sold on my mortgage to another mortgage company within 4 months of my PPI claim - I believe this is evidence they knew they were in the wrong - although I understand their right to sell on mortgage products this seems really shifty!
I'd be really grateful for any help - I am planning a Plevin complaint, but feel this other information is important to my process.
Thank you0 -
The brokers were not regulated at the time of sale so can dismiss your complaint even if you find them. You have no access to the FOS or to the FSCS.
Wessex Group appear to still exist but are insurance providers, not mortgage providers.
Whoever sold you the PPI is liable, not the provider, and not the mortgage company, unless they also sold you the PPI.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
