I apologise in advance if I should be able to find this information elsewhere, but... I've finally pulled my head out of the too hard pile and am looking into PPi reclaiming. I have the names of the institutions that I had loans with about 10 years ago and I know I had ppi, I kind of thought that saying yes would make it more likely to get the loan at the time. but what I don't have is any paperwork or the account details. (I've also changed name and moved since I paid off the loans). Can I send the Subject Access Request document without knowing the account details? thank you in advance LT
  • You can send a SAR to see what it uncovers. However, what are you hoping to uncover with it?

Also your complaint reason is very weak. Perhaps give that some thought before making your complaint.

    Hi,

just wanted to say, using information on this forum and the resolver website.

I recently sent a check via Resolver to RBS to check for PPI, as Ive had varioous cards/loans with different companies all now owned by RBS.

They sent back stating that I did have PPI on a loan back in 1993 with Natwest and they would contact me once they had completed the investigation.

to cut a long story short.... I received a payment of £3300 into my bank from them.... they didnt argue, nor ask me to fill in any forms nor ask for information..... Not that Im going to complain.... but is this the norm.... do Natwest auto assume they are in the wrong....

so a big thank you to all, as I wouldnt have done the check without reading snippets of information from here. :j:T:D
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

No. They look at the available evidence.
  • Guys I need advice!!
I took a loan out years ago, I was young stupid and ended up in a debt management plan!! I reclaimed PPI on the loan however the debt management company ripped me off!! I took £2000 out and over a period of around 5 years paid nearly £10,000 back!! I put in a complaint at the time but they said it was in the terms and conditions. However I is what they were charging me ppi and commission? can I make a claim against the debt management company??
  • I've tried to track down a mortgage taken out with Bristol and West in the early 1990s. No success. Is there anything I can do please? Thanks
  • If neither you nor they/BOI have details, then no.

In a debt plan with lots of interest and low repayments, particularly with missed payments, it's not unusual to pay back astronomical sums. The answer was to use a free debt charity

Any terms and conditions you signed up to as part of that policy would apply yes, if you didn't agree to them you shouldn't have signed.

No a debt firm's fees are not PPI and no you can't get a refund of these fees.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • I've queried whether there was PPI on a Capitol One credit card and they have confirmed there was.

They attached a PPI mis-sell complaint form for me to complete which has several questions regarding my personal financial circumstances at the time the card was taken out. These seem to be intrusive and somewhat irrelevant, do I have to fill in the form or, should I send a complaint letter using your template?
