Why thank you. Much appreciated.
So if I say to them it is not Plevin they should investigate?
The lender is only liable for Plevin. Not missale. Not unless the seller was an agent of the lender. For most car dealers, it is the dealer that is liable for a missale complaint.
However, car dealers were not regulated until January 2005. So, they do not have to consider pre-regulation complaints.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi, so I'm pretty sure I've had PPI on credit/store cards but this is going back about 16-17 years and I don't have ANY paperwork or account numbers. (Plus on at least two of those accounts I got CCJs for non-payment, but I can't remember which.)
I'm assuming there's no point trying to reclaim PPI on these accounts that I don't have any paperwork for?0 -
If you are successful, any redress would go towards amounts owing first.
No harm in trying though.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Hi, can anyone please help me? I sent a PPI claim to HSBC for a mortgage that I took out in 2003. They wrote back saying they are unable to locate the paperwork relating to this product and that it may have been destroyed. Are they just fobbing me off? My paperwork that I attached to the claim showed the mortgage quotation and a statement to show that I was making the payments. But the statement didn't break down what the payment consisted of. Thanks0

HSBC only sold monthly premium standalone MPPI with mortgages in 2003. So, it would have its own direct debit and not be built into the mortgage. That usually means there is no mention of MPPi with any of the mortgage paperwork. It also pre-dates insurance regulation. So, it may have been little more than a single sheet of A4.They wrote back saying they are unable to locate the paperwork relating to this product and that it may have been destroyed. That paperwork doesnt help anybody as it just shows the mortgage payment. You would need to show them the direct debit for the MPPI. Not the mortgage.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thanks for the reply. It's very useful as I am clueless (you probably gathered that!). I'll have a look in my statements again. They also had us get life insurances and an income protection policy which I believe were missold. Unfortunately I don't have much in the way of paperwork so I guess that I can't go any further.0 -

Good morning,
Currently in process of reclaiming PPI on a personal loan. I have 2 valid reasons for being mis-sold.
Additionally, I think the loan may have been front-loaded and was one of a chain of loans that ended up consolidating debt. Do I include these as reasons as well when reclaiming, or not include them as I don’t know this was definitely the case?
Any advice is gratefully received.0 -

If it was front loaded (single premium) then yes, if it wasn't, then no. You can't claim it was miss-sold on the basis that you think it might be, you need to establish if it was, then complain, or not, as applicable.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
