costs and prices will go up every year.

If ebay/paypal did not have a monopoly, prices would have fallen.

If it is no longer profitable to run your business, then either sell up, close up, or find a way to ease the pressure, including putting prices up.

Or find an advertiser who does not take almost 20% of the takings?

Yes, when we find a real alternative to ebay on auction style items at less cost please let me know. I'll be the first to sign up.

I've signed up to just about every other site so far with very little success, a few more won't make any difference :(

Any site that could truly rival ebay for potential buyers would charge fees anyway. People seem to think that one day someone will start this magical auction site that has as many buyers as ebay but they won't charge any fees!! Anyone big enough to try and rival ebay is going to want to make money too and the fees would probably be roughly the same. Look at Amazon and Play for example - they are the closest there is to ebay with huge levels of traffic and the fees are not much different - Amazon has generally higher fees!!

There are too many dreamers waiting for the no fee, high sales platform that will put ebay out of business!! Dream on, you are in for a very long wait!!

I would think between eBay and Amazon they hold a large part of the UK market share of service providers hosting third party sales. eBay are a business and are looking after their own interest. My objection to their fee increases is it is claimed to be spent in the future on improving the site, however considering they are running at record profits and making billions why is the site currently so full of bugs and problems and why is there little to no interaction with the sellers using their service?

The eBay employees have stated on the eBay boards the fee increase is to improve the site, do you have confidence that eBay will start using highly trained staff to implement highly advanced features and tracking retail tends so they can blow the consumers mind in the hope they'll blow their paycheck or do you think eBay will continue to bumble long with poorly designed changes that often don't work as they should, fail to engage the consumer and that there will be no discussion on the matter and no fix on problems for a very long time?

So far the jewel in eBay's crown is the Outlets and Daily/Weekly Deals. Both very good ideas and both certainly draw customers whilst make eBay money but with eBay's resources these ideas should be a sideline (whilst still getting the same attention if you see what I mean) rather than eBay's main focus.

No exclusivity - ebay are just the best at what they do. Simples!!
