What things wont you economise on?:)

Only buy
Coca Cola - only one DH will drink and I tend to agree with him
Douwe Egberts coffee but MIL buys Millicano and that's not too bad
Quilted toilet paper
Kitchen paper has to be good quality otherwise it's just false economy
Bread
Meat - inc., ham, etc., I am really, really fussy about
Fairy Washing Up liquid
I don't buy anything that contains aspartame in but not sure that counts!
I think that's mainly it apart from my own toiletries, make up, shampoo etc., somethings however I wouldn't buy a value version of like pickle, ketchup, mayo, beans, that kind of thing.~ What's for you, won't go past you! ~0 -
Oooh just rememebred another - WINE - just putting in my latest Majestic order!!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
Ralph Waldo Emerson0 -
I am struggling to think of anything as I usually just buy supermarket brand items or whatever is on special offer or in pound shops.
I don't mind what brand my beans, washing up liquid, butter, ketchup, biscuits, bread, soup, cereal, coke, crisps, toilet paper are but I avoid the economy versions on all of them.0 -
There are only a few things I won't compromise on:
Ham - Can't eat the packaged stuff, it looks and taste like plastic and is full of water. Yuck.
Toilet paper: no value rolls, they definitely are a false economy. I only buy branded stuff, especially Velvet.
Eggs: free range or nothing.
Chicken: no value chicken, makes me feel sick just thinking about it.
Aussie shampoo. Nothing else works as well for me.
Anything else, I'm happy to go with whatever is the best value.0 -

Pretty much me. I don't care about the economy versions though, I just buy best value for money.
As the above poster mentioned value loo roll is usually naff and has half the density. If I can get it at 30% price, great, if not, sod it.
Not sure if I'm just a miser or if I genuinely don't care about the difference between brands. If I bought nescafe coffee, an image of a few quid would pop into my mind every time I had a mug :PSaid Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
Said Diogenes, “Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.”0 -
Bread - has to be Warburtons.
Tea - I'll only buy Yorkshire or Ringtons.
Toilet roll - we did try Nicky for a while but we didn't get on with the fragrance so I've gone back to buying the slightly more expensive (but much kinder to the bottom) Asda Shades.
Eggs will always be Free Range.
Milk - Cravendale or Asda 'Fresher For Longer'.
Butter - I always buy whatever's on offer out of Anchor, Country Life and Lurpak (one of them is always on some sort of offer!).
Shampoo - I use Tigi Catwalk which is a salon brand and won't economise on that as cheaper stuff leaves my hair feeling and looking like straw
Hairspray - I've tried so many cheaper ones but none come close to Elnett!
That's all I can think of at the moment. Pretty much everything else has been economised on. My husband was out of work for quite a while so we had to but now he is working again I've stuck to the economising as we're used to it now (and used to the lower food bills!).There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
I forgot crisps - I tend to only buy Seabrooks (they're the best!).There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0

PS for those Branston beans fans the 4 packs are half price at Tesco for £1.28 until 6 March0

I have downgraded on a lot of stuff over past few years..but won't budge on -
Teabags! Got to have my beloved Lipton tea, which I can only buy in certain places and do a round trip monthly or so to stock up!
Washing powder - I find Fairy is best for my skin and have used for years and will continue to do so!
Shampoo & conditioner - 90% of time use Tresemme rest is poundlands 'brunette' shampoo I use if going out etc as gives a little shine
Sure no white marks deodorant - nothing else comes close to freshness.
I adore mcvities chocolate digestives but after a recent GULP at the price switched to Aldi's version - 3rd of price and very acceptable. Lidl's are edible but not the same, though at the same time I've grown to like the slight wholemeal taste..
Normally buy only free range eggs but occasionally get Sainsbury's barn eggs if feeling a bit tight for cash..I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

Total 0% Greek yoghurt purely for its taste and nutritional data (high protein and low calorie)
Cherry tomatoes for salads (don't mind what brand though)
Toilet roll (buying cheap stuff is false economy really, usually buy supermarket own brand or branded on offer)
Shampoo/conditioner
Moisturiser (my skin gets really sensitive with new brands)0
