On flyer talk it was suggested, if you transfer onto the card via bank transfer it is FREE.
Be careful. One person reported that; others are sceptical.
If you could cycle £500, 2 twice a week over 6 weeks this would be 12000 Avios.
Be aware of the card limits, including:
    • maximum balance allowed at any one time: £5,000
    • maximum load over 12 months: £18,000

Has anyone tried reloading via bank transfer?
The 2x Avios per £ offer can be a good deal IMO. If people are interested and want to try the 'free' opportunity, I'd suggest buying the card - there's a %age fee for this anyway - then loading at least £250 (for the 2x offer). If the reload works without a fee, then go ahead and reload again. (Of course, if you have the card aready, you can jump straight to the 'reload at least £250' step.)

Yes, his name was Roger too ;)

    The thread is here

I think I may give it a whirl. Cycle £250 for a few weeks anyway.
Even at £10 per 1000 avios its great value. There are plenty of places you can go for 9K avios rtn

If it works out 0% all the better

I'm a bit of an avios geek.

This year I've already secured 2 First Class returns to Sydney, various European trips and also just booked a last minute First Class return for 2 of us to St Lucia, all on Avios.

So any questions, and I will try and help.

Latest Tesco Club Card promotion is 50% more avios so you will now get 900 Avios per £2.50 voucher exchanged.

Im still expecting the 2000 quarterly bonus on top too.

Can I ask how easy it is to use Avios during school holidays for flights or hotels? No point in me starting to collect if they can't reallistically be used during school holidays - preferably the summer holidays.

    Thanks.
  • Hello I am going to Fairbanks, Alaska via Seattle next year and would like to upgrade to Club. I got a free upgrade to Club when I flew for the first time ever with BA last year - I was very surprised and very happy :D
It made such a difference to my jet lag that I would like to repeat this again this year. Also I like to have as little time travelling and as few transfers as possible which is why I went via Seattle last year.
My problem is that you can not book a reward flight or upgrade with points to FAI as Alsaka Air fly this route not BA. Is there any other way to book the flights also to help maximise the amount of points I get for paying for a flight but upgrading with points?
I am happy to pay for a WT+ ticket but not sure which is the best way to get an upgrade that won't cost me an arm and a leg.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

When flying to SEA roundtrip with BA from LHR, and connecting to an Alaska Air service in SEA, I have always booked the BA return flight seperately and got an upgrade using BA miles (Avios now of course). That in itself can be difficult, unless booked a long time in advance. You can maybe get one leg upgraded, but it's tough, in my experience, to get both. I've always booked any Alaska Air flights seperately, direct via their website and you will get the standard partner Avios points if you give them your BA Executive number when booking.

    Hello everyone,

I hope I'm not posting in the wrong place. Avios newbie here- I've only just discovered them and have 1424 points.

I was going to convert some Clubcard vouchers (I have £16.50), but wanted to get advice. I have not converted Clubcard vouchers before so think I get 2000 bonus points. Can someone confirm my maths is correct below:

    1. Convert £15 clubcard vouchers before August. This would give me 7400 points (5400 normal and 2000 bonus).

    2. or on the 'Boost Avois Points' discussion it says to convert £7.50 before the end of August (900 x 3 + 2000 bonus), and £7.50 between September and November. Does this give 2 lots of bonus points? (900 x 3 +2000) + (600 x 3 + 2000)

    Would this give me 4700 + 3800 = 8100?

    Many thanks for any help!

Who is your account with, BA Executive Club or Avios.com? You'd be better off converting £7.50 with BA Executive Club and £7.50 with Avios.com now (make a new account with whichever one you haven't got, and then you can link them together and shift points between the two).

    That way you'd get 9400.

    Avios.com - 900 x 3 + 2000 = 4700
    BA.com - 900 x 3 + 2000 = 4700

My account is just an Avios.com one. I didn't realise I could also create a BA Executive one for the promo offer too. Will do that, thank you.

EDIT: Completely ignore me! I didn't realise the bonus Avios you get from Tesco at the moment don't count towards the 2000 bonus. You'd therefore need to convert £6.50 each time to get them. You can do £6.50 now in each of the Avios and BA accounts, but you won't have enough left to do the BA one again next quarter (unless you earn another £2.50 in vouchers before then - don't know if there's time?).

Also, you'll have to earn an Avios on the BA account before you can do this offer (easiest probably buying something on the BA estore).
