  • I have spent £82.91 this week. I am going to have to stretch tomorrows chicken thats for sure.
My Mum gave me a lovely tray of turkey breast fillets today, so that will help no end.
My total seems to be going up very quickly. I really must stop the little spends. Mind you looking back at the reciepts, the spends are not so little :o.

Hi I've managed to get reduced price chicken thighs and I also have some bacon so I was thinking of making a chicken casserole for Sunday dinner using these ingredients but it needs to be quite 'plain' as we have my MIL coming round - does anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

What about just adding some tin toms and a bit of stock and just a wee bit of mixed herbs. Could add onions/leeks if they're not too strong, and mushrooms and potatoes?

FrugalLina those smokies look superb. I don't think I could have resisted.

40p reduced onions used to make onion soup (with chicken stock made with the last RTC chicken we had) and HM bread (with the stupidly cheap yeast from amazon). Yum.

Frugalina. Where is this market? All our 'Farmers Market' stuff is vacuum packed and not very inspiring.

Small Mr T shop this morning. DH away all week so mainly staples for making a big pot of soup to keep me going and lots of fruit and bits.

Tonight is salmon, dill and potato bake to use up the offcuts from my whole salmon filleting last weekend. Then Red Thai Curry with leftover Xmas turkey tomorrow before I put DH on a plane. Num num num.

  • We have NEVER been able to buy our car tax online with a debit card and have been doing for around 3 years now:mad:

If you are able to do it by using your debit card, can you tell me your secret please as really naffs me off having to pay an extra £2.50 a time when we have the money in the bank

I have bought mine on line for the last 2-3 years as has hubby. I am pretty sure when it comes to the payment section it gave us a choice of how to pay and we ticked the debit card choice then entered our details, this was only the end of Jan that we did it.

Have you tried paying over the phone by debit card?

    Hi everyone.
just to et you all know that i bought my car tax online and used my debit card without a problem. Maybe it depends on the type of debit card? Mine is a Visa Debit card.

I didnt know that the price goes up, so am glad i decided to get it early!

Ditto - I have just used my direct debit card as well - its also a visa. The site does say that you can use both.

Grocery wise its a nsd here - just on the count down to payday next friday. I have some unidentifiable meat defrosting from the freezing with a view to slow cooking it tomorrow.

Urg, only a tenner or so left in the GC and I am WAY over in the entertainment budget and have promised to go out tonight with a friend. Will have to have a good long look at that when it comes to adding up the month's spend. I have slipped back into the habit of always having a bottle of wine in the fridge, though, and that's not very healthy.

Have to go out for milk and eggs today, could just manage to leave it till tomorrow but I've got a really busy day (probably with a slight hangover :o) so will brave Ald* in the rain on a Saturday afternoon. Urg again. About to run out of batch cooked food too - can do the cooking on Monday for the week as I have a day off, but really need the milk and eggs before then. Oh well. I will probably go over budget this month, but not by much. I think next month I might try to reduce the budget by a tenner and see how that goes - I suspect I might be spending up, if you see what I mean, as £100 is actually quite generous for a single person (wouldn't have thought that six months ago!)
