they now keep ringing back so I am not answering
I know its my fault for playing along but it worried me
I noted this up in my previous post (post 87) which provided a youtube link. It seems to be getting to the point where, instead of just hanging up when when they realise they have been played along, things turn nasty.

The more this happens, the more they might start getting vindictive - is there any risk that they can start to feed numbers of us trouble makers "around the bazaars" in the seedy world in which they work just so we end up getting more nuisance calls?
Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.
  • Gutted, still waiting for mine. Had the police catalogue and the Local Council Nursery Catalgue though.

I've just found this email address
    ruth.graham@ukibc.com
Ruth Graham works for the UK India Business council
do you think it would be worth contacting her
I found a message on a forum from two years ago saying that someone contacted Indian High Commission to ask them to do something about this scam as it could damage relations between our two countries and Ruth got back in touch with him and said relevant authorities in India would be contacted , if enough of us emailed her surely she couldn't ignore us ??

Probably simpler (and not for the original call just the abusive call backs).....a very loud whistle. Especially nasty when wearing a headset.

I've just had my call!! I didn't try to break any records but I did keep her going for about 15 minutes. She was adamant this wasn't a scam (of course she was!) and that she could prove it as she could tell me my computer licence ID. When I asked which one, she asked what I meant; when I said I had more than one she asked how many...I told her that surely she knew if she had records of my PC. I asked her which PC was at risk and which the licence related to and she told me it was all of them.
She assured me that this was one licence that applied to all my PCs and that her company, Helpdesk at PC, based in London, were representatives working with Microsoft. I was doing other stuff and really couldn't do with trying to keep her much longer so I got a phone number from her and said we didnt have our PCs on at that moment but we'd call her back. She did offer to ring us back in half an hour but I said we'd call her. Am partly tempted to try the number just to see who it is though!
  • I've had another couple of these calls and after reading the wonderful tales on here have had a little fun.
The best one was when asked about my computer I said you'll have to wait til I call my husband as I'm 'just a woman' (anyone who knows me knows why that's hilarious). After about 4 minutes I picked the handset up and apologised for the delay and said he was disabled so took a long time to get to the phone. I used this ploy to keep them hanging on for about 20 minutes then said, 'Oh he says I'll be able to deal with this after all'...
So they started and I just went round in circles saying'sorry I don't understand you' until eventually I asked 'are you English, you pronounce words funny and as I'm hard of hearing you're confusing me'. At this point they got furious and effed and blinded so I put the phone aside until they got bored and hung up.
Didn't beat the record but got to about 45 minutes...:rotfl:

I feel humbled by my 38 minute effort!

I played the stupid old woman who knew nothing about computers so followed her blindly. When I say blindly I really mean blindly - I didn't even have my computer turned on. I kept asking what she could see. Funny thing was she kept telling me she could see all the virus's and malware on my puter - Damn they are good :rotfl:

I kept my conversation interspersed with OMG's and my husband is going to be very angry with me and think I have been on !!!!!! sites as this is where all this malware comes from.

I then told her about what a control freak my DH was and he would be monitoring my internet access even more now - 'Oh help me please! How do I get rid of all this before my DH finds out and gives me another beating!!!'[ :rotfl:

DH was listening to all this and killing himself laughing - I had to send him out of the room before they twigged.

All of a sudden my back door was knocked. 'Hang on - there is someone at the door. I will get rid of them' I popped her on hold. You have to understand that Casualty was just starting and I wanted to watch it. I left her on hold and placed the phone on the coffee table and settled down to watch my programme. It was very amusing to hear a slightly plaintive, disembodied voice calling from afar 'Hello? Hello? Bless her - she stayed there for 14 minutes before hanging up. :rotfl::rotfl:

I am saddened that I have never had another one - it is something I could look forward to as I have several more scenarios I want to play through. :A

Ive had a few calls, the last time I claimed not to have a computer and "David" was a bit stumped as he kept asking me to do various things.
I kept saying "how can I? I dont have a computer" and in the end he accused me of lying and got nasty. His last line before I put the phone down was funny though.
"If I find you are lying to me I will come there and chop you up into little tiny pieces and feed you to a buffalo" :rotfl:

I was very impressed with the man who called me , after 20 minutes he hadnt lost his temper with me . To be fair to them they are only doing a job , and at the end of the day you have to earn money where you can

I agree with you, they run a thoroughly brilliant service. I think they are just misunderstood by the great british public.

By the way did they manage to fix your computer?

If not PM me, we might be able to work something out, chin chin:D
