i'm surprised at the contrast of responses here. I would've thought it be black & white. Either she has a case or not. Yes or no. I don't know the answer ... which is why i'm here. To me it's like asking what is 2+2 & some people saying 4 but others arguing 5 <confused>mattyprice4004 wrote: »Was it a trader or private seller?OP, was the item new and is there a receipt for the original purchase? There is still a warranty on the phone with Apple if its less than 12 months old.
Receipt:On Amazon there is the A to Z claim process.
If you raise a claim that its not working you will be put in touch with the seller to get their side, you will then have to return it via a trackable means at your cost and then you will get a full refund. However you only have a set time frame to raise a claim, I think its 90 days. That seems your best way of sorting it, and you can just buy a normal iphone thats not jail broken from elsewhere. If she doesnt need it to be jailbroken, then restore it through Itunes (after backing it up) then go here:
Warranty Checker
put in your serial number, and if indeed it is brand new then it should still be in warranty and apple will replace it with no problems there and then in store
How does she find the serial number?
The problem with the apple store .... our nearest one is in Manchester, which is a good hours drive away.0 -
LMAO Jail breaking hasn't been 'illegal' for some time.
OP, restore phone and take it into Apple.
Serial number can be found via settings > General.0 -

Regarding taking it to Apple - that isn't so straight forward. As i just said they're a good hours drive away - so a 2 hour round trip.
With this problem, i think she's wanting to return-for-refund now & get the iPhone 4 or 4S instead from an actual shop.
I'll have to ask her for confirmation on that last point, but if it's true then sjbrun's post could be the best course of action - especially considering Apple are so far away from us.0 -
Thanks.

Apple will send a pre paid envelope to her if she chooses to take that route, but if they replace it then it is likely to be a refurbished model anyway.
Her best course of action is with the seller really. £355 is a heck of a lot for a 3GS now though, I sold mine in new condition for £100 a few weeks back and even Mazuma only pay £90 for them now. If she can get a refund she'll probably pick up a 4 for that money.0 -

Is it totally dependent on whether the seller feels like being nice?0 -

Ah right, in that case i misunderstood you. I thought you were pretty much saying that any refund is down to a sellers good nature.0

That was an insane price to pay, there are unlocked iPhone 4 for under that new on Amazon. Ignore the unlocking bit (which is easy to do anyway) and they are £150 and under but that is all water under the bridge.
Apple will sort it assuming it is genuine and new. If you go in store and it turns out it wasnt then there is a reasonable chance they may well sort it anyway as they are fairly good that way.
Amazon I believe gives you a 90 day warranty if the seller doesnt sort things so you may want to get a shifty on0 -
I've had Iphones, the call quality is rubbish compared to other mobiles. I have a Blackberry now which i hate but at least i can hear people ! The sound quality is much better.0

To balance this up, I've had every model since the iPhone 2 and never had issues with call quality at all, having used OH's blackberry and Galaxy S 1 and 2 I've found no difference.0
