Jibber Jabber eh hmmmm you've been watching too much Boston Legal :rotfl:Always looking for a bargain and to help0 -
ive got the 27" AOC from techfever today, its pretty good! its superb going thru the vga cable from my laptop. Ive not had much chance to mess with contrast settings, but i had a quick play and it seems ok.
Only slight gripe is the vga cable i have has bulky ends, so getting it onto the vga port on the tv was a bit of a struggle, but its in now
bargain for £299!0 -

Clearly you don't do your research like I do. I've always had the top of the range crt's usually Sony & I've always gone for the best picture so I didn't buy not one or two but 3 LCD TV's unless it was good enough for my very fussy viewing. My Tevion...YES TEVION 32" out performs all the crts I've seen if you compare everything. Crts for instance look blurred against LCDs. To make an LCD look like a crt just turn the sharpness down & you have a crt picture but with brighter & better colours. I would never ever go back to crt ever. The only tosh is a TOSHIBA crt.Nice to save.0 -

Quote from a post above from a guy that deals with TV every day.
" CRT vs LCD vs Plasma...
I have yet to see an LCD without an HD feed to have a picture quality superior to an old CRT set. It just doesnt happen. The poor picture quality on LCD and Plasma is the reason that HD exists! Even HD fed LCD's have difficulty matching a decent CRT.
HD plasmas (if they are good) can create an image superior to CRT.
But being honest, the reason we all like LCD and Plasma is the fact that they take up so little room "
So it looks like you are out of step, oh and yes I have read the reviews on the Tevion LCD TV's from Aldi's / Woolies etc. in fact one of my mates has one .. utter tosh.
You are only fooling yourself.0 -

It isn't designed to be shown on LCD,which is why it never looks 'right' without a lot of electronic processing (and not even then).0 -

It shows you you don't have the first idea, your spouting off against LCD TVs & you don't have one to sit & watch. The fact that a guy deals with (so he claims) TVs every day doesn't mean he is impartial. If my TV was no good it would have gone back. I watch mostly on freeview & that is better than any crt. But many a time I watch in HD & there is no crt that can come close to it. Only reply if you have bought an LCD & compared it in your own home NEXT TO a crt of which BOTH are properly set up. You would then have to agree with me or get a pair of glasses.Nice to save.0 -

High Deffinition...
Yes HD is comming, but how quickly and with who?
At the moment, the only HD input is coming from Sky.
Sky only has a handful of channels transmitted with HD, and when you sum up the EXTRA £10 a month on top of a normal subscriptions PLUS the costs of the box, PLUS the cost of an HD tv, is it worth it?
A lot of people have Xbox 360's and want a HD picture. I have Sky HD and personally do think that the £10 sub is well worth it.
The movies look amazing as does the sport.anttreas wrote:CRT vs LCD vs Plasma...

I have a HD Panasonic Plasma and on SD broadcasts it is far superior to the CRT it replaced.
I have owned an LCD and it looked god awful on SD.anttreas wrote:(ADD ON NOTE)
I have noticed people are mentioning 1080p.
Another thing to consider, are we going to stay with 720p and 1080i, or are we going to adopt 1080p in the future.
Many, if not most, of the cheaper Plasmas, are unable to support 1080p (much higher picture quality)
No one knows what will happen with this yet, as it is a decision that will need to be made by the broadcasters. But it may be worth asking the sales rep whether the screen supports 1080p. (but dont neccessarily believe them if they tell you why you dont need it!)
Well you don't NEED 1080p.
At normal viewing distance you would have to have better eyes than a fighter pilot to spot the difference between 720p and 1080p0 -
