Bargain LCD HDTVs

have read somewhere that the Hannspree model can do 1:1 pixel mapping.
Here's an article (2003 so a bit old now) on pixel mapping just to confuse everyone even more

on a different note, personally i dont worry too much about expensive big brand name LCD's as they can't change the basic facts that it is still LCD technology. A lot of these cheaper sets can IMHO perform aswell as many more expensive ones, particulary if the techniques are starting to mature. Perhaps some of these Chinese manufacturers also have more room to be flexible.

Spotted this after my neighbour bought one. Turned up within two days of ordering. They are very pleased with it. Can't find any more tech info on it and just who are V7?
matty69 posted a link to that one on page 3

I'm talking from my experience of watching Arsenal vs Blackburn on some LCD TV's last Saturday in Currys Digital. There was some serious blurring. So it's not an old opinion."To be ignorant of one's ignorance is the malady of the ignorant." Amos Bronson Alcott0 -

Next time try an opticians, that may get rid of the bluring. LCDs outperform crt in all ways. Like it or lump it.Nice to save.0 -

I speak as one who has a fairly expensive LCD and a couple of CRT's too, and have seen and sampled many, many lcds, and used to work in the tv trade.
On current SD broadcasts, from old fashioned analogue tv, through Freeview and cable and worse of all to Sky, CRT's in genera handle the signal far better, in general than current, average LCD panels. LCD's excel at high definition inputs, but on Sky most noticeably, LCD's struggle with the low bitrate broadcasts, that crts handle much better.
The reason the above poster saw an awful picture on the footie, was more than likely because it was either an analogue broadcast being handled by the tv's inbuilt tuner (always awful...) or via sky and shared via RF aerial cable (quite possibly worse!)
Watched via RGB scart, or even better Sky HD the real quality of a properly installed and set up panel can be seen. And in these circumstances, even a relatively low end panel can give quite surprising results.0 -

I agree, motion blur is still a problem even on the top end sets you can see it during certain fast action scenes.
They've done well to reduce it so much so that the Ghosting phenomena that plagued LCD displays of old has pretty much gone but what remains is a weird blur the moment something happens on screen that involves fast action.
I'd say most people can see it we shouldn't pretend it's not there, so many people notice it and there are articles all over the net about the problem but how big an issue it is will depend on the individual and whether the pay off is worth it and most people probably think it's not that bad.
I think the biggest problem with these sets is that they magnify the problems that CRTs sets don't. Like bilbob you want to be using Sky-HD and high quality cables for analogue broadcasts and I agree there's also the problem of low quality broadcasts on SKY as it is. I can see pixelation on some channels on my CRT so how would that look on a 42" inch panel. It's a shame that these things won't live up to their potential for so long, I considered getting Sky-HD last year but then I found out many shows on the channel aren't HD to me that makes the whole thing not worth it.2007 Won Ipod 30GB Video Sold on ebay for £136.51

Most of the quality LCDs that I've seen in showrooms playing HD pictures from a disc drive look superb, but I think it's noticeable that these demo discs are almost always scenes featuring slow moving action.Almost static,in fact.
Some of the HD broadcasts that I've seen from Sky look very good on LCD, but pixellation and blurring are often evident when it comes to fast action scenes (eg, football).
As I say, I'm not sure if this is a problem with the panels per se, or due to a combination of poor/compressed signals, conflicting resolutiuons and inadequate signal processing.
Currently, because there are so many competing standards, LCDs have to compromise in order to provide a watchable picture for whatever sort of signal is put into them.
Until there is a new, universal standard, I guess these problems will persist.0 -

That's in a TV shop, with lots of TVs hooked up on the same - internally looped - feed... Sorry Mate, you fell for the trick of the trade there.
The real test for LCD & Plasma is to see them at home (or someone else's home) in a real environment with a normal reception, not some shop set-up...Lady in Seat 65
