Can we live halved Income

I have bought a slow cooker and it has been brilliant. Been buying cheap cuts of meat and chicken and veg - one "potful" lasts OH and I 3 meals. Have bought a recipe book but hav'nt been very adventurous yet. Have been doing numerous on-line competitions .. no luck yet .. but I live in hope. Job situation looking bleak - more and more cuts in libraries. Avidly reading posts on how to be frugal. This one is my favourite!0

:j It's amazing how much it mounts up - I started in Feb (from memory).
I've also decided to put any cashback money into this as well - currently sitting at £49 (£45 round-down & £4 cashback).
I'm also due another £60 cashback: £40 from a new mobile deal (great deal - £21/month but it goes down dramatically to £8.50/month as I also get to claim cashback of £50 x 6 throughout the contract) and £20 from switching broadband supplier:jmoneywaster-nomore wrote: »But it would be fab to pay insurances a year in advance instead of monthly. Something else to work to wards.
As it has been said, its not just getting out of debt, its also about getting ahead of the game and becoming financial as one can be these days.
Here, here!:D Paid my house insurance "in a oner" for the first time last year (although it was on the cc:o) and have been putting the money away each month since so will be able to do it properly this year - also aiming to pay the car insurance in full at renewal but this is much harder as paying for this years by monthly d/debit and trying to put the same amount away to cover next years ..... it's not easy sorting yourself out, is it!moneywaster-nomore wrote: »As its bank Holiday (and my birthday :bdaycake:) we have been paid today.

Back in DFDiaryland.
Not a lot happed, but...........I have been to town today. Only did one thing, then came home. No money spent.
Opened a "credit union" account :j. My plan is to save £10 a month. So if I need to borrow in an emergency, the future, I can do it from here and not PDL.
I did ask as an inquiry about loans. they told me, as a rule although every case id different depends on how urgent it is. They like to see 3 months of steady saving, of whatever amount. Which I think is fair comment. Althought I will really do my best never to borrow again.Provident[STRIKE] £550[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£450[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£400[/STRIKE] £300, Friend [STRIKE]£1000[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£900[/STRIKE], £800 :j

Yeah, spare cash, tends to find somewhere to go on its own, when freeded up.
£100 less a month council tax, all arrears now clear.
£10 to my credit union, the rest to go to my payday loan. Must put it to good use, once this is cleared.Provident[STRIKE] £550[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£450[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£400[/STRIKE] £300, Friend [STRIKE]£1000[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£900[/STRIKE], £800 :j
