It didn't come off for several days. I think she must have used most of the bottle. For some reason she was surprised I found out :rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi there moneywaster-no more.

I just read your diary from start to end and have found it very inspiring so thanks for that.

I'm going to use some of your tips like measuring your bubble bath and swapping milk for water in recipes. Excellent suggestions. Thanks :D. I'm also envious that you are possibly able to manage without a car. I need mine for work but would love to do without one day.

I'm worried for you about your payday loans...just wondered if your friend really doesn't mind, it would make sense to let her pay it off then pay her back. Do they not charge ridiculous amounts of interest? I had a few myself years ago and remembered being horrified when I actually realised how much I was being charged.

Anyway, I do hope you are enjoying this lovely weather at the moment. And I'm off to subscribe to your diary so will keep up with your progress.

    Best wishes

Hiya Ani*fan, Thank You for reading and posting your support and welcome to my ramblings. Glad my tips are of some use. This site is Fab for that.

I totally agree, excepting another loan from my friend would be the sensible thing to do. The reasons that I will not accept more help are.

    1. I already feel stupid, inadequate, not able to deal with my own finances by her helping me out. I do not want to ask her again. I see her on a weekly basis, sometimes more and soon as I see her I feel great shame and embarrassment. I have already had words with her, as she has said she does not want money repaid. I have insisted that I will pay it back. I know it is going to be a right fight to get her except it. If I do not pay it back, I will feel like this for the rest of our lives.

    2. I feel I need to take responsibility for my actions and if that means struggling to pay extortionate interest, than that I will have to do. I knew the interest rates when i went into it. I must pay the price. This way, I feel when it is paid off, I will have leaned a very dear lesson and not return to it ever again.

I know this is not a practical solution at all given my circumstances but " I will do this". Pride is a silly thing at times but I feel better in myself doing it this way.

I usually roll my payday load over, paying £100 a month interest for the pleasure !. This alone reinforces my resolve to clear this.

I have already had a text to ask if I wish to roll over my loan till April payday. I refused. My plan rightly or wrongly is to borrow back £50 less each month until I can manage without it. A shocking wastes of money agree, but I strongly feel, i must learn the lesson. If my friend is going to bail me out interest free, I will learn nothing.

Note my sig.......I have deleted my £2 coin fund, I have decided its not practical, need all my pennies to clear my payday loan, need to find an extra £50 for next month.

I am not proud of many things in my life. I am very proud of my DD she has her head on money wise (and has been there to help me in the past. I have paid back in full)

I am proud to be finally in the right frame of mind, to take responsibility and deal with my debt.

    Hi mwnm

That's great to hear you have a plan to get rid of the pay day loans. Although it will take longer, you will definitely get there.

I understand your reasons for not wanting to borrow from your friend. It makes total sense now. I've struggled to pay off CCs with massive interest rates; I had 2 charging 30% not so long ago . However, it wasn't until OH said to me 'why don't we just borrow the whole lot from your mum? She's always saying to ask for help if we need it.' Now, my mum has worked hard for everything she has and I know is sitting very comfortably at the moment. And she deserves it. But also, however well meant financial favours are between family and friends, there is always an akwardness to it. My mum has helped me out in the past in my student days, and I've paid her back, but during that time she would make comments like 'can you afford that night out?' and 'Oh, another pair of shoes?'. I felt stupid and ashamed and all kinds of negative things. Which is why, as long as I can make at least our minimum repayments, I will never ask her for help. I'm sure she didn't mean to make me feel bad but that's how it was.

Plus there are benefits to be had of managing it yourself that you seem to understand but I didn't anticipate. This debt paying-off lark is about more than £0 on the CC or getting rid of those payday loans. It's about gaining real skills in money management, appreciating the value of things, having pride and confidence in living within your means. For me it's also about not being wasteful, being green and considerate of the environment and looking for something more meaningful than another 'thing' to buy.

You're not stupid and inadequate at all! I wonder if your friend refusing to accept repayment is making you feel worse? Is there a space in your budget to begin repaying her now? Maybe £10 per month would lift some of the shame from your shoulders and let her see you are serious, that you are extremely grateful for her help, and that you are now in a much better position and able to begin repayments. Maybe once the payday loans are gone this amount could increase.

Anyway, it's just a thought. I hope you are enjoying some of the beautiful sunshine we have here at the moment. :) Happy debtbusting!
