OK, I have round down my current account today, just rounding down to nearest £1 but I will do it every time i go into it, that every couple of days.

Getting in an advance would be a fab place to be. My rent is paid 4 weeks in advance. But it would be fab to pay insurances a year in advance instead of monthly. Something else to work to wards.

As it has been said, its not just getting out of debt, its also about getting ahead of the game and becoming financial as one can be these days.

    :)

I round down into my online ISA - means I can get money quickly if I have to - suits me this way ;)

I intend to put up more what I am actually doing to reduce my debt but I think I get sidetracked either that or I am in denial:cool:

I'll go look for it. I'll pinch your ideas, if they are practical for me to do.

    Hi MWNM

As I was reading I was thinking about you claiming benefits and then I found out that you have.

Are you going to carry on paying your rent and council tax while you wait for your claim to be assessed?

If you were thinking of doing so I would get in contact with the Benefits Section for them to do a quick calculation (or it might be on the council website) to see what you would be entitled to and then you could just pay the difference in the rent so you don't leave yourself short and maybe be able to clear the payday loan.

I think based on your earnings alone that you would get most of your rent and council tax covered.

If you are awarded Tax Credits then this will reduce what you get for rent and council tax. For every £ you get of Tax Credits you will only benefit from 15p of it as any income above your personal allowance is deducted at 65p for rent and 20p for council tax.

If you need any more help give me a shout
  • Hiya Eager_Elephant thank you for reading and posting and your support. Thank You for that information. I am taking everything on board. Its so complicated and takes such a long time to sort.

Pay Day has arrived a day early for me :j. As its bank Holiday (and my birthday :bdaycake:) we have been paid today. So all my money has been sorted into my virtual post and I am in the process of renaming my on line accounts.

I will be trying harder this month to cut back further.

Going for big shop today, I used to do this weekly, now just once every 4 weeks.

Have a fab weekend all :A

Happy Birthday MWNM. Have a great Easter too!:beer:
  • Thank You all for my Birthday Wishes x

I have borrowed a cookery book from a friend its called. " one pot casseroles, soups and stews". OMG its fab, really basic and everyday ingredients, nothing airy fairy in them. Just your normal run of the mill stuff. :j.

I'll post up anything I try and think is worth it.

    Have you got a slow cooker? I have 3 - now thats a confession:D

Different sizes - humongous for batch cooking;middle size for one off meal and small for well small things - hot dips usually for 'gatherings' :D

with that book you should be able to adapt any recipe - I find you need less liquid ( usually about half) You can brown meat first but I rarely do and sometimes it can be a bit 'thin' so I add either cornflour towards the end or some flour at the browing stage - its all very experimental:rotfl::rotfl: but a godsend especially the batch cooking and filling the freezer. Also I dont have a cooker in the summer months as we have a solid fuel Ag* which even in a cool summer is just too hot so I make full use of my slow cooker(s)!
