So true. Friends first choice of name for their son was Justin (this was the 80s!). Unfortunately their surname was Wright.....say it out loud.

The Toyah Wilcox story reminds me of the Peaches Geldof interview she gave discussing the abuse she got from school-friends. My favourite line was 'Oi, Peaches! Are your parents bananas or what?'
Surname linkage is very important. My 'real' initial and surname spell a word. It has followed me a nickname for more than 30 years now. Wasn't funny then, isn't funny now, but everyone sees it for the first time and giggles...Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I have friends who's little girl is Daisy and I love it.
Don't like Tina, Tori, or Tehya.
Good luck with your choice. I love Matilda and Tillie.
I've got a Matilda0 -
I'm probably going to be VERY contraversial now...but I hate when white parents name their child with a name that you would associate as being of black origin (i'm REALLY sorry if that's offensive terminology, i can't think off a less offensive way to word it) I know people that have recently named their newborns Ketisha and also Shaniqua.0

I am not keen on any of them tbh, daisy is probably the best but for some reason it reminds me of a name for a cow.....:oRaven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0

My old boss's daughter had that name and I always quite liked it.
Hitchcock fan by any chance? Probably wouldn't get commented on these days, but the IMDB plot summary for "Marnie" begins: Marnie Edgar is a habitual liar and a thief...
Also, IIRC the character's name was actually Margaret Edgar, Marnie is a diminutive.
SPCome on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0
