I have to agree with Ravenlady, most of those are horrible. Daisy or Emily (spelt correctly) get my vote.

Is "Emilia" even a name? It's "Amelia", surely? Emi-Leigh is vile (as is anything featuring "-Lee" or "Leigh").

Sorry, but if I saw that I'd just assume that the parents couldn't spell. It looks like Casey spelt appallingly..:(

Anything can be a name if that is what you choose.

It is Amelia if you ant to say it like that, but I love the name Emilia as I love Emi, so I'd have been silly to call my daughter Amelia and call her Emi.

Well that's your opinion about the name being vile - my friends daughter is not vile, I am sure she would be insulted with you saying that.

I like Teyha but not spelt like that.
    Daisy's ok.
Can't stand the spelling of Emilee, I'm afraid.
    Tori is nice.
Tina seems wrong for a child.

    So Tori gets my vote.

    In order of preference:
Daisy, because I'm a big Spaced fan.
    Emily (definitely not spelled Emilee)
    Tina, at a push.

The others I don't like at all, personnally.

Btw, it would be great if people could refrain from calling other people's name choices "vile" or "horrible", it can be very hurtful and it's unnecessary. It also says more about you than about the person you are insulting. Just saying.

Unfortunately this seems to be the case. Even when the parents choosing are seemingly at best ill-educated and shortsighted, and at worst self-indulgent and cruel.

I'm not saying the child is vile. In fact, that's exactly my point. By giving kids these awful names, parents are disadvantaging them in the future. Often, when it matters, a name makes a first impression.

How is an awful name like "Emi-Leigh" going to look on job applications? Can you seriously imagine a solicitor or doctor called "Emi-Leigh"? The name alone almost sentences the poor child to a life sat at a checkout.

I just wish people appreciated how important a name is, rather than indulging their desire to make names up and to flaunt a toddler with a name that's "fashionable" at the time.

Why do people have to change the spelling of names? Do they actually know how to spell them the original way?

For me, it is not clever or original to add as many 'iiiiii's or 'eeeee's as you can fit into a name nor is the latest fad to have double barrelled names ending in 'Lee', 'Leigh' or 'Leeeeee' doing anything other than showing a leaning towards chav tendencies.

All of the names in the poll, other than Daisy, are just - well - urgh!

I still believe that you can go down a list of names on a class list and tell what the parents will look like just by that information alone.

I can't believe you are proud to offer most of those names up as genuine possibilities.

Tori - I thought that was a contraction of Victoria rather than an actual name. Eg someone called Becky is actually called Rebecca.

Emilee - why this spelling? Are you American? If you want the beautiful English name rather than something a bit affected by current fashion then it's Emily.

Ultimately of course it's your own choice, but remember that the baby will be stuck with it for life and bear that in mind in making your final decision.

Good luck with the arrival of your little girl, you must be so excited!
