I recently bought a vintage brooch from a charity shop for £1.99 and sold it on ebay for £30.00 :) It's hit and miss though. I have bought other jewellery and not made much or only a little. I think after a while you develop an eye for what will sell.

Does anyone know if there are any places where you can find an up-to-date list of what is selling well on ebay at any one particular time? If there is one it would be helpful as we would all know what to look out for :)

Just had a quick update. Well done to everyone who has made a start on the challenge. Sounds like it is going well!!

Planning on doing a carboot sale on Sunday and have been sorting out items that we need to get rid of. I am aiming to make £75 if I can and obviously anymore than that will be a bonus.

I think I am going to start off fairly small, say with £10 and see where that takes me. Am hoping to have the time to do a quick purchasing scour about while at bootsale too. Will let you know if I make any purchases to get me "off the mark" so to speak.

I picked the wrong day to do the antique fair as there was too much going on in the town (Olympic Torch) but still managed to increase my doubling pot to £102. That was my last selling opportunity for this month so I am going in to June with a target of £204 plus a bit of stock left over.

I also need to find somewhere else to buy as the local weekly auction does not have the quantity or quality of stuff that I am going to need.

McFilly - eBay pulse used to be the place to find out what's selling on ebay but generally the top places are full of new stuff, electronics, toys etc.
Thank-you to everyone who posts comps

Wow everyone is doing soooooooo well :)

I have fallen completely off the bandwagon :( BUT i am going to start again :)

I have decided that i want to try and start my own craft business which is something i have played around with for years if i'm honest. Over 20 years ago i was selling crafts to local shops but work sort of got in the way of that and i stopped. I figure because of my health issues its something i can try and start working on again (because i can do it in my own time when i'm feeling well enough).

I have gone a bit mad with buying things to get me started - i am going to do a spreadsheet to keep track so i will know exactly how much i have spent once i do that - i'm guessing its around £1000 :eek: so for now i am going to give myself a target of £2000.

So far i have had a few sales and have brought in £64 :) Its a bit slow going because i have to actually make things to sell but i'm happy enough to tick along slowly until i manage to get some stock made! It will be interesting to see how long it takes me to actually break even never mind make a profit :rotfl::rotfl:!!

I want to continue monitoring my zopa account as well and still have the £1000 target in mind for that but its going to be much slower than i had wanted initially. I don't mind....I'll get there eventually lol!

So currently sitting at £64/2000 - scary to see it like that  but hopefully will stop me spending and start me selling :D

Oh just had a thought - i can work on doubling my stock as well :) will count that up shortly as well!

Zopa - i need to go and check and will update shortly! - ok thats sitting at £654.87/£1000 at the minute :)

Ok scary monster time.......i have spent £1267.85 which gives me a target of £2535.70. I don't even know where i got the money from to spend!!!!!

Good Luck with your crafting business fairy- wish I was creative!

Wellllllll I have achieved my first double up target on my stock numbers :D, decided to count up my last 31 days sales and Im dead on 250! On my spreadsheet my Im on an average of 7.6 sales per day so would have been 235 for month (must have had a busy end of April!). But the past week has really picked up and now with the investment I should hopefully achieve my next double up just as quickly! I also think my sales pick up at the end of the month so my average isn't really anything to go by really. I might monitor sales per day over the course of a month to see if there is any pattern! Sorry Im babbling... *goes off to add more numbers to the spreadsheet*

    Just editing to add:

Went back in the thread and I didn't realise I gave myself, on 27/3 2 months to do my first double up...I'm 3 days early :) Was supposed to give up work now but bit cheeky to give up work just as soon as someone invests- so will leave when thats paid back. Hoping to achieve my next double up in July!

Wow well done on getting the investment Natterjack :) thats brilliant news :) and HUGE well done on hitting your doubling target as well :) :j:j:j

In an attempt to get my sales moving i have now opened an ebay account for the craft items (i don't know why i have such an issue in mixing products in one account!! lol!) anyway the new account is of course limited to listing just 10 items a month :( but hopefully i will make a few sales and get that increased soon enough!

I got my first order from my facebook page now as well so i was pleased to get that - just need to get knitting it now :rotfl:

Hopefully i will have some sales to add to my balance very soon :)

Hey,was just interested in knowing more about Zopa.It sounds like a really good idea but is it safe? Are you protected if someone doesn't pay you back?

    Thanks,Lucy x
