It's been snowing & torrential rain here. The field are bog. Poor wee lambs, but they seem to be thriving...thankfully.
Not got anything done on the house as totally brassic, so got cabin fever as it's not fit to be outdoors for anything other than necessary animal stuff.............
I wonder if I'll ever live in a house again, have hot water coming out of a tap.......0 -
Poor LIR and Choille! I went through something a little similar with your house projects when I was younger, but I don't remember it much. At five, you tend to shrug things off I think.
Itsme, can you travel by ferry? You can get to the Canaries that way if you wanted. It's not cheap, but still possible. Have a look at the directferries website. Or there's all of southern France and Spain which are nice for an extended break. You're not stuck here just because you can't fly.
LIR you really need a pick-me-up, you sound so down, poor thing *hugs* I've found also that it feels a little easier once you've spilled what's troubling you to someone.
Today my house woes are at "acceptance" level rather than railing against what I can't change. I just hope work isn't as dire as it was yesterday to drag me back down. Psychic shields up!"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -
Looking at the bunch of us who post here regularly, it's plain that the recession (and I don't care if we are technically in or out of one ATM) has hit everyone hard, though in different ways.
On top of that, quite a few have health problems, which are all the more noticeable when everyday activities involve land/animals.
Then there's the weather, which could presage a major shift in climate, or just be a blip. You decide!
With all this going on, it's no wonder we sound a bit jaded, but overall I'm sure we're still better prepared than the average person for whatever lies ahead.:) Interesting times we live in and no mistake!
Right, I'm off out to bump-off a hen.....I'm afraid the miracle recovery of Miss Chatty was as illusory as that of the economy in the early noughties!
P.S. At least the sun is shining.....;)0 -
Morning all:j
now I might be wrong:D but I am sure I can see a bright sky outside, not a grey overcast thing:T:T well there are clouds etc, but it has stopped raining, and its bright out there...
got 1001 things to do between now and tomorrow tea time, when we leave for the smallholders show:eek::eek::eek: and just not enough time to do it all...
And when I come back then I will be back on the bay, as I now have my Royal Mail Online business account open.... it will take me a few days to master it:eek::rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -

Oh guys, what a rotten time it's been, this blinkin weather doesn't help!
We would have liked to sell up and move at one time, now even! But similar to the above comments, our place looks a lot worse - all our efforts being undone by vicious weather so it's not as attractive as it was when we bought it, even though that was totally superficial as we now realise.
Hopefully we are remedying that but it's a long slog. Also we've poured SO much money in that we'd never get back, paid 250k 4 years ago, and you need to do something special to break through the 1%-3% stamp duty barrier, I don't think what we've done so far or ever could would do that. So here we stay!!!
I'm quite jealous of friends of mine are moving to Portugal, got a 15 acre place for about 50k, after selling up here they can afford to live the good life...weather's been pants in s Europe though, so not all rosy.
That said there are so many properties for sale round here that just don't shift, nicer than ours, bigger better houses mainly, auction seems to be the only way for smallholdings ATM. Funny my neighbour's place is on the market and I noticed the photos of the land are about three years old, taken before the rain (and my pigs) took it's toll:rotfl:
But they'll never sell for what they want, they've been told by overly ambitious agents what it "should" be worth and won't budge, but one look from an objective point of view says they are miles off!
Thank goodness it's a calmer day today, yesterday's rain was biblical, my new ditches are working but at the lowest point where it goes into pipes to the river it burst it's banks and flooded the yard and animals!!! Got to assess the damage with a fresh head on....

I didn't know about the Canaries by ferry, thanks.
I always travel by train. I used to do the South of France &/or Italy about 3 times a year. However, as you say, the cost is vastly different from hopping on a plane. At the moment I'm being tight until I know what I may or may not have to cough up for with this place.
It's while I'm in this country (with its' lousy weather) that I'm stuck. Oh for a pavement :rotfl:0 -
The snow missed us although there were flurries up top & on Dartmoor. Some of the gusts of wind were a bit ooo-er. One woke me up during the night & I fully expected to be looking up at the stars with the roof gone but all was well - I think. We haven't been out to check around yet. It's raining again.
There's been flooding about (buildings & roads) & trees down.
Ah the English summer  but then 'tis the Devon County Show so what else would we have expected? :rotfl:
Here's something to cheer us up ....... not.
So, just before the days start to shorten things may start looking up. *rolleyes*0 -
morning peeps...:D
well ...
1) ive won the battle with the hospital :j took 2 hours of hard work but "the dragon" had run out of fire by the time id finished. an investigation re paper work is in place now with management. the head of staff was there and she actually was appalled by the dragons attitude (fobbing off). as i pointed out ,FRAUD had been commited re the tick boxes saying a "representative" was present when paperwork was completed...;)
i have no problem with the care he has received but thier [her] attitude to his actual final health needs report is lacking to say the least.
BUT NOT ANYMORE....:T
so it can rain, it can blow, it can howl but i am SUNNY.:D0
