    I've been Money Tipped!
    I'm just going to be wary about expressing dicontent about my car or Alfie will be telling me she's got some nice sporty ones she can pass on to us dreamers. ;)

    I hope it goes well darling Alfie. He's only good enough if he has a real sense of fun and adventure, a good heart and LOVES the animogs.

    Good Luck Alfie! I hope you get chauffeured about in fancy flash cars and look like a very important person - have you got some designer sunglasses and a scarf to go over your hair - got to be a convertible right?!

    Can't get the image from Bridget Jones out of my head, sorry :rotfl:

    I have got to tell you all something, I've felt like I'm going to burst all day and I hope I don't jinx it by saying it BUT...

    I asked a top notch restaurant nearby about supplying my rare breed pork ages ago and today they phoned out of the blue and said yes

    they'd like a pig a week starting ASAP!!! :j:beer::j:beer:

    I still can't quite believe it, that is EXACTLY what I needed at the exact right minute. 'The bank' would be willing to offer a loan to make vital improvements to the farm (fencing, accommodation for animals) BUT I had to show how we'd pay for it, cashflow etc etc ...been racking my brain, done all the figures, how many sales we'd need etc and along comes my answer!

    I was at the point of saying even if I was accepted for the loan that I wouldn't draw down until I had guaranteed buyers for our produce.

    So now I just need to find some pigs, lots of pigs! :rotfl:

    Da iawn, rummer and ferret.

    I'm excited about your date, alf.

    The show looks really great, CTC. Would love to go but I think all this is for next year and beyond. We have lots to explore locally first, plus we're in saving every penny mode :}

    WELL DONE FK:beer::beer::beer: def get something in writing, and make sure the payment terms are clearly written down too.

    You were wise to wait until you knew you had some sort of income/sales coming in..

    grey, overcast, and humid here....

    That is good news, ferretkeeper!:beer: I know from experience, it's relatively easy to make product,and another thing altogether to shift it. What's more, one really influential customer can be worth a dozen others,because of the ripple effect.;)

    We'll have to see about the guy with the fast cars, Alfie. Can he pass the Mabel test, I wonder? :think:

    Grey day here, with the prospect of some rain pm, but it's tomorrow I don't like the look of. Gales aren't going to help the blossom to set, and there are precious few insects about as it is!

    As you may have seen rozee, we are at detailed plans stage, after which we will be going for quotes, not estimates. If it really would cost twice what I calculate, then we'd not do it.

    We have instructed a Quantity Surveyor to provide a detailed breakdown of the work we plan to do (Phase One: all the structural stuff and skilled workmanship, windows, insulation, heating system, electrics etc). The pricing runs to nearly 20 pages and itemises everything. The quotes are based on the specifics of this tender. We have done lots of research and it's been costly but we hope this means there is less margin for error and surprises and, if we do need some extra work somewhere, we know what the builder charges based on the costings already submitted. What surprises me about architects is that they're not able to give a better idea about costs. I realise that finishings can mean a job varies wildly in price, but the shell should be pretty standard, given the building regs requirements. We have learnt so much through this process and a bit of the learning has been painful! A few months back, I thought that, if we had our time again, we'd do things very differently. I'm now happier with the process, but we're only just starting on the build. Our budget is towards the top of what we planned, but you can't take it with you and it will be a fantastic home.

    All the remaining stuff can be done in our own time, DIY if required (OH is doing his plastering course ;)) but the place will be liveable.

    I can't beleive the change in the weather. It's very wet and very windy.
