Change of thought........ If it's less than 18 that you want then it's over this side of the country :rotfl:

    Err....we're currently 19.5c in the shade. :D

Maybe the Met Office get Exeter's weather right. There's certainly a difference between there and here, as I know from when my DD spends time working there.

I was London born and bred to the age of 8. Tried to return at the age of 18 and lasted less than two years. Late 60s was a good time to be there, but I soon realised elsewhere suited me better.

You're not by the coast, though, Dave. Anywhere inland tends to be higher as there's no sea breeze.

Thinking back to island upbringing yes, agree, mind you, the breeze has been vibrant enough here today, but the day has been simply beautiful. Dh got burnt yesterday yet refused to wear a t short today. The breeze keeps the driving heat off enough for him. For me,....I wore a summer dress for the first time this year...but with uggs and a blanket for much of the day:rotfl:

Rain needed here now, I think we are due some on Wednesday. I hope it's enough to not all empty on the big hill but rather to have enough for us open plain dwellers too.

Don't forget the environmental lapse rate though....;)

roughly 1 degree F for every 300' above sea level. :p

    Anyway, it's still 18.5c :D:cool:

Been a looooonnnng day had a stand at a vintage car show, because of the beautiful weather people turned up in their thousands.. sales were ok, but nothing to get excited about, but at the end of the day, it was better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick:rotfl: and I came home with a sun burnt face:o:rotfl:

My feet are aching as hubby forgot to put the foldaway chairs in the van:mad:

I love doing this type of thing, but I really do take my hat off to people who do it week in week out...

Yes, we're several hundred feet up & less than 400 yards from the sea so we get it from both.

Don't forget, though, that this place was carefully chosen for the opportunities it offered for tourism. The weather doesn't really matter too much to the visitors - unless it rains all the time they're here - as they're aren't the bucket & spade brigade. They'll come for the scenery, the wildlife, the walks (the coastpath adjoins our land) but we've noticed the decline in good weather over the last 5-6 years.
We only had snow settle twice in the first 20 years & were never snowed in - the last few years that's been different. Spring would often hit the 20s & people could happily sit outside in shirt sleeves & enjoy the long, warm evenings. That hasn't happened for a while now.
Personally, I'd much rather have the colder but shorter winters & warmer summers that are seen in the eastern half of the country which is why I'll be happy to downsize, lose the land but be able to relax in the more frequent sunshine

:D Sounds like a good day, CTC

ahhhh, a sea breeze is what I dream of :o I'd be happy with high temperatures if there was that freshness coming off the sea, plus hot weather is always much more pleasant/bearable once you're out of the city. A friend of mine lives just outside Purley, right on the Northern boundary of Surrey, on the main road that runs down a valley between the North Downs. Hot sunny days there are what hot sunny days are supposed to be, and you don't come to the end of the day covered in a layer of pollution with lungs so tight that you may as well be a smoker.

I would cheerfully do that, if I had something to sell :rotfl:

We used to find that general country shows suited our business OK, but those involving mainly horses and/or dogs were not money spinners for us. ;)

The plant fairs at country houses were best. We had a posh tent thing which would protect us from any weather and it took only two minutes to put it up. :)

But yes, it's hard graft week-in week-out. We gave up when the constant carrying gave us tennis elbow. I've said before that it sounds such a wimpish thing, but when you can't carry, or even hammer a nail in, you're stuffed! :(

I recovered, but DW still has to wear an arm support when working, and a different one for sleeping.
