Ahh, that's nice....:A
Just notice we are only about 500 posts off the 10,000 again:eek::eek: so will have to start thinking about starting a new thread... any thoughts on the title of the next one????
Oooh, dunno, I can only think: 'Daydream Thread - We Can All Dream' or something like that, to keep it inclusive.:)
Sometimes, 'Daydream Thread- It's Bloody Nightmare!' would be more appropriate, but we don't want to be down-beat! :rotfl:
We've had a couple of days making the next bit of the 'pretty' garden, which was originally an overgrown site with two septic tanks and a lot of rubbish in it. It's taken over two years to get to the stage where we can plant without perennial weeds and couch coming up. Every tree, shrub and perennial we plant is one less to look after in a pot, so it's all good. :j
I've also carried on planting down at the stream in odd moments, and up at Mr Dog's, where I am surreptitiously adding native hedge trees/shrubs in anticipation of removing the blackthorn later. By now, he's probably worked out that much of the blackthorn up there is dead, having been sawn off at the bottom last November when I was in a strop! :rotfl:
Mr Dog has been staying home and working on his house much of the time this year. I've been praying for him to win the lottery for a long time, and maybe this is the best I'll get. He inherited money last autumn and it's obviously influenced his lifestyle. The grand design he's engaged in certainly includes a new entrance and porch, with possibly a conservatory too, but we'll just have to wait and see. When he or his wife are home, the dogs are quiet, and that's all that matters.0 -
I as thinking along the night mare thing too...
Daydreaming...won't somebody wake me up please, rofl.
But keeping it inclusive is better !0 -
First lilac finally out!
The difference after this weekend has been amazing. Colour is breaking back into the garden and buds are forming where before there was doubt and frankly disappointment.
Keeping fingers crossed for some pretty serious rain. My non resident parent and I had planned to weed today but a combination of ahem...too hot. And too dry meant we ate a salad and cuddled the dogs instead. Saturday is take two for that now.

Yes, things are making up for lost time now. Have taken advantage of warm dry weather to sow direct: french beans, rhubarb chard, american cress, carrots, brassicas, peas, salad crop. Should get a good watering in tomorrow with the rain belt.
All the early potatoes are showing and blossom is out on the fruit bushes and first tiny fruits showing. Pears, greengage and some of the apples in blossom
Yet not a sign of life (apart from weeds) in the asparagus beds.
Busy online as well, 23 items sent today!0 -

Finally a lovely sunny day :j I was busy indoors for most of it but I have spent the last couple of hours out in the garden and I feel so much the better for it! It never ceases to amaze me the impact a sunny day can have on my life
I have just made a veggie tart and have stewed some rhubarb and it is making me even more determined to grow as much as possible in my garden this year. Walking out in the garden in bare feet to collect raspberries off the bush to have with breakfast is bliss
I have dug over and weeded most of another bed and I am hoping to finish it off after dinner. The forecast for the next few days is not too great so I am going to be in the garden today until the last scrap of sunshine has gone!
There are no bees around here atm, am I as well hand pollinating my nectarine tree? Do I just use a soft paint brush and dust from flower to flower?Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

I was hoping to prevail on her immense googling skills to try and find the tap in this picture.

I have seeds growing. So excited! Was it Maggie who sent me some seeds last year? i saved a few of those an I think they might be coming up. I am probablya bit late for the tomatoey, pepper type plants, am I? It was so cold this year when I would normally be planting and then the holidays at Easter meant we were away....
Almost at the point of build... Where are you at at the moment, Dave? [edit: I managed to read back and can see you're taking a pause. We have had similar frustrations to you , mostly on the issue of budget. I recall comeone saying on here (?LIR, itsme?) to double any estimate about cost of work and that was pretty close. However, from the design point of view. we're very happy and it will be an ideal home for us with Passive heat captured, large eat in kitchen, (although we can't afford to fit it out), two extra bedroom and, we hope, lovely windows with loads of light - bloody expensive though).
I'm so strapped for time at the moment. We are truly settled in here, community wise. Welsh today in the day, yoga in the evening, tomorrow I'm at school doing parents' evening type things, school fayre meeting, Governors meeting, Thursday, OH has started a plastering course at the local college and then, as we only have childcare Monday through Thursday, that just about seals it. Fun though.
The wildlife round here is coming on nicely. I had a blue tit in the caravan today pinching bits of the edge of my carpet for nesting material! Looking at the carpet, it's not the first time she's visited us.0 -
