Thank you for the advice CTC and Rhiwfield
I gave myself a firm talking to and took OH out into the garden with me to discuss what we were going to tackle first. A friend appeared to help and we got quite a bit done, which has really lifted my spirits!
Finally we got all the shallots planted and a good few potatoes, the pea/bean bed was dug over, I got half the greenhouse cleaned, the seed trays filled and ready, one of the paths cleared and that was about it.
Tomorrow I will take a load to the dump and pop into the local giant DIY store to get some wood treatment for the florist boxes I want to plant up and new gloves as well as more compost/grow bags.
Once I had decided what to do it really made me relax and I enjoyed being out in the garden and getting things doneTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Couch grass back in the new border. I could spit. It's going to be another sod I can tell. We cannot do better than we have done for prep so we are just going to have to keep going over it.
On the plus side, the long border, that used to uptake us a come of weekends to weed we did in the day today.. We are winning!
Wild flower area is a mess of nettles and buttercups. Too late to spray back this year so we will have to co exist this year I think and review at the other end of summer.0 -

Typical April day here.0 -
Ground frosts the last two mornings, so not sure why people are buying the tender bedding plants
Fruit bushes starting to flower and the fruit trees are about to blossom. Seeing the occasional bee around, seemingly outnumbered by bee flies.
Raining now, so glad we had a productive day yesterday.0 -
Raining here too
however as you say Rhiwfield just as well we got some things done yesterday
I got new gardening gloves today and some wood treatment so that I can protect those florist boxes before planting flowers in them this summer. They are gorgeous and will really suit the garden, infact just thinking about them filled with flowers makes me smile!
We are getting work done in the house this weekend so everything is slightly chaotic, although it will be well worth it in the end as it means another room will soon be finished (after it is then painted)! The best part is that this room will be all for meTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0
