The chicken drinkers I was talking about a couple of days ago.
I've got them now and they are these

red one, 3rd down, I'm not sure of the difference between them and the white ones.
The place I got the chucks from had them in 5gallon containers, with 6 or 8 per container, I've put one on a 1kg yogurt pot, with lid, on the outside of the run, so there is more space in the run and the chucks love it.
They say columbus aqua on them, which is how I found the web site. I can't find a supplier in the UK online.
The great thing about them, is that they can go into any vertical surface.
HTH someoneFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Lotus..... the place we bought used to be a chicken battery type farm.... all the long huge sheds have long gone, but the concrete blynths and the pastic long feeding pipes are still on the land, including the drinking nipples in the pipes...I will pull some of them out of the pipes, and i can send a few to you, to 'play' around with if you want to....
Alfie..... love them, and they will def bring good wongas... I must admit i have only ever come across the metal ones...keep us posted on what they bring.... by the way its free listing this weekend....
Davesnave... brill.... would def appreciate it if you done still have some....
Went to view the house again yesturday, took my step father... I dont know why.. the rose tinted glasses have def come off now:eek: in reality the house really does need loads of major work.... sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Due to finances being non-exsistant:rotfl: I think in all honest its going to have a five year plan.....
This year.. we will try and consentrate on the pine end with the split/cracked chimmley, and the wall underneath it that most of the old mortar has blown, the facias that are rotton, beyond rotten, and the end part of the roof ( on the naff chimmley side) basically the outside of one end:rotfl: This will make the house water tight from the roof down at one end ( hopefully)
Anyway got to go and put some clothes on now and shake my butt into gear... and go to the first of 2 vintage fairs this weekend... I really do need to put a false smile on to all the people who are up their own butts:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
Morning all, does anyone know if it is too late to plant garlic or shallots? I thought they needed a frost to split them but the back of my packets just say 'plant in spring'. Not sure we will have much more frosts in SE London. Since I only have a small part of my allotment cleared I wondered about planting them so at least I have something in while I clear the rest. I hope it's not too late, it will feel like the first steps of living the dream in a very very tiny way
Roozee your place sounds wonderful, stuffed with exciting finds!
Sorry to hear about the selective thieves - hope they are caught soon

You can plant garlic now. It will just crop later. Mine only went in about a fortnight back!:o
Will look for P mint now, but it is always slow to wake up.0 -

I've planted them as late as the end of April, no use for this year then but I dig them up August and replant in Novemebr and get massive bulbs next year. They just swell up when doing this not splitting etc so you end up with really big single bulbs at the start.
I'll be doing that this year as an experiment around the edges of my lettuce tubs, having read and noticed that slugs and snails don't like garlic. Unless anyone else here has tried it and knows otherwise?
Alfie, they look fab, wish I could find stuff like that to sell.0 -
No sign of Pineapple mint, but DW tells me I 'refurbished' it last spring, along with the others, which I also can't see yet. The mint next to the house is up though.
Pineapple mint isn't as hardy as the ordinary ones and it's a martyr to vine weevil if you keep it in pots, hence the regular refurbing.;)
I will keep my eyes open. The fact that I can't see the others is hopeful. As you know, we have just moved everything around, because the digger man cometh, but that's not for more than a week now.0 -
DAVESNAVE..... am i going dafter than i thought

 I am feeling completely overwhelmed by the garden at the moment
There is just soooooo much to do and so little time! Not got the garlic of the shallots in and the beds they are going in are weed filled. I also have a huge backlog of plants waiting to go in and no cleared space for them.
:eek::eek::eek:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Thanks Davesnave & Annie
