    I've been Money Tipped!
Van arrived for special girl this morning. Thankfully the wind has kept the wet of the fields, so has been able to drive right in and get her. I had feared we'd need to get the farmer over to bring her onto the yard in the front loader.

Oh that's good, LIR. You should be able to have a bit more peace of mind now.

Yes, CTC, I believe you're right about BF & Castaway.

That's what I mean by unaffordable! Just running it would cost an arm & a leg.

OK here's one from Devon that looks good value, but the deadline has passed.....

If they think that kitchen and bathroom need modernisation, they should see ours! :rotfl:
That does look quite reasonable in price, Dave. Similar to our bit of Wales. It makes me feel a bit better about what we bought our's for as it's not a dissimilar price, but we've an extra 3 acres. Agree with you about the bathroom, though!

I'm experiencing a few frustrations getting quotes for jobs. There have been some highs (we have a pretty reasonable quote for the supply of all the windows in aluminium) and some lows - trying to get someone to come out and quote on our external insulation is proving to be a challenge. I can see why a project manager demands their fee now. I guess if you have relationships with these contractors and they know you're likely to send them more work down the line, they are more likely to be prompt and competent in their dealings with you. Feeling that going down the main contractor route is a happy medium. All the builders on our tender list have experience of building in the area for at least a decade, some many more. we've got our meeting with the QS on Thursday and tenders can hopefully go out soon thereafter. I can't wait for an end in sight now. It's a cold, cold day in the caravan.

Well we haven't blown away in the night or been snowed-in, but by heck, it's parky out there! Looks like a day for working in the poly.

I saw some of Countryfile last night CTC. I can certainly identify with Prince Charles having holes in his clothes from hedging. The difference is that his would be worth patching, while mine are things that were at the end of their useful lives before I stated hedging in them! :rotfl:

Found this rather appealing property this morning. Quite a lot of boxes ticked, but going for a pee in the middle of the night would be a bit of a palaver. The lady from West Wales Props must approve of it as she's included her Jag in the pictures. She never does that if it's a grotty place! ;):p:rotfl:

    WE HAVE SNOW :j:j EVERYWHERE.....:D

i know im in the minority but i love it !!

LIR...glad that this morning went smoothly albeit sad.

ROZEE.... i was discussing the merits of a project manager to my friend who buys, restores houses [usually for herself and not to re sell tho ] she is having major works done on a house that is connected to a house she already owns [it was once ONE house....LIR has seen it ] she is putting it back as one. she says she would not be able to keep track of CO-ORDINATION OF WORKS, SUPPLIERS, TRADESMAN ETC without her chap [hes a surveyor/architect] and she has done this for years..... she pays him a day rate, and he is there every day checking on work progress. he gets the headaches.... but it runs so smoothly there are few of these ! she feels it is money well spent as it speeds up the work and saves her time and money in the long run.
she said you can add a penalty charge for over run but have to be reasonable to allow for genuine unexpected hiccups.
    hope this helps..

well mabel did a quick flash out to eat and dashed back into her house :rotfl: and i got a lie in [tho that was cos i overslept !]

have to go get feed from store now. and food for us.:D

son is sorting out his insurance claim at mo but all very smooth so far :D hes frustrated on crutches for a week or so more.. poss stitches out tomorow .

he treated mum and i to a lovely meal last night in a local pub for our mothers day treat and it was unusually fantastic food etc... :)

dad is making very slow progress, but has kept an element of humour ...telling me when he finally does "go" [;)] i will be able to sell it on ebay with "one carefull owner, low mileage, and rare " :rotfl::rotfl:

    stay safe peeps:D

lir, so sorry to read about special girl, so sad when you lose an old friend :(

Itsme, it's so long since I've been to Devon I can't remember whether Lynmouth was at the top or bottom :o I do remember a very steep climb & then a hair-raising lift down on the funicular railway thingy (I'm badly afraid of heights & was stood at the front!!).

alfie, good to hear your pops has still got his sense of humour ~ I think that's what has got my Dad through his many health issues.

It's so cold here & we keep getting snow blizzards followed by glorious sunshine. Very windy as well. I just want to hibernate.

Yes good that your Dad is still "all there" alfie. The awful thing about brain related stuff is that the sense of humour can suffer.....and we all need to larf, especially in the face of adversity. ;)

Good too that Special Girl was able to go in a proper, dignified manner.

Poppy, Lynton's at the top and Lynmouth's at the bottom. :)
