  • choille it is soooooooooo bloody annoying when they give you info that you act apon, and then you gt into trouble becuase the twonks give you wrong info in the first place:mad::mad::mad:

Is it a large amount you got to pay back and be fined?

Has this happened to other crofters?

Is there anyway you can find out if this subsidy? has been cut, hence the visit?

If there is anything we can do to help, or maybe our miss marple ITSME could do do digging around in the internet for you to get some info/advice ( sorry Itsme I dedicated you, but you are our super slueth sp? :p)

This lingering cold thing is getting me down now.. my throat/chest is quite 'flemmy'

Sorry to hear of your woes, choille.:( I can't say anything useful I'm afraid, except agree that putting it in the hands of your union, who may already have more case experience of this, is the best way forward for you.

It's all bloomin' rules. Yesterday, I had to fill in that Foul Drainage Form (literally) and I'm afraid I had to have a few 'memory lapses' while I did it. :o There's nothing really bad going on here, especially compared with what goes on at the other end of our land, but the rules keep tightening.... I won't be telling anybody when I put a bog in the barn! :p

The performance went OK last night, although I couldn't help noticing the audience went very quiet on the two occasions where I started ranting. I don't think they really 'got' my role, as Pantos tend to have very black & white characters. I'm sure they didn't know whether to boo. My Queen Vic isn't an evil person, but she has an awful temper and she says some very politically incorrect things!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

    I've been Money Tipped!
The thing with the paper work is that it's not really smallholder friendly.

I got them to talk me through our entitlement mapping too choille, so I hope mines ok, but it was such a weird process, how they made the field numbers, then told me the existing field numbers and the sizes, and the sort of correlated. I wouldn't be able to do it again alone.

Spot checks are horrific, I had one first summer here and was easily able to blame last owners......now it's coming more on our head, but land issues doesn't change overnight.
  • Bl**dy bureaucracy & jobsworths
You have my sympathies, choille. We have as little as possible to do with any of them. They all look for ways of getting more money out of people & it's nothing new. It's been going on for years now. It just gets worse during hard times.
If you own anything with land you're a target but, as LIR says, particularly for smallholders.
You're nearly always treated as farms if you keep any sort of animal (heaps of paperwork &, loads of OTT regulation) but what you get from it is seldom worth the hassle. :(

I'm happy to help in any way I can but Scottish Law is usually very different from ours. Choille would probably be safer asking those around her with experience of the way it works up there. Anything specific I can look for when we know what we have to research.

There's so much of it going round. DH got it weeks ago (got to be over a month now) & I thought, maybe, I'd got away with it. Then last weekend the exploding head & slightly sore throat started. That improved (Ooo, I thought. I've had a lucky break ) but 2 days ago the cough started :( Last night we were both sat propped up in sleeping bags on settees taking it in turns to keep the other awake with hacking chesty, coughs :rotfl:
Steam, hot lemon drinks, not laying down flat & keeping really warm seem to help but DH can't shift it & when I had something similar last autumn it went on for months, literally :(

The weather until mid-March looks much the same as we've had in February. No sign of it getting warmer nor of Spring really arriving. There are just odd warmer days (& they're frequently wet) or cold & dry.

    Thanks all.

CTC - Hope the cold shifts soon.

I am going to wait until I get their official report in.
It was a new scheme that I'd signed up for. I did receive a payment last year for which I'd topped my reeds. It's so annoying coz I know that certain millionaires here get thousands & thousands of pounds for doing nothing, not even living here. I seem to be going backwards.........

Slight snow here so I brought the sheep back inby as I feel sorry for them in their wooly jumpers & they are perfectly fine.....

Free listing again this weekend so that'll keep me busy - last time had quite a few non payers! Pain.

I discovered the previous owner kept whatever entitlement we had here. After that we lost interest in telling officialdom anything.

Went to see the pole this morning to find somene had already been poking about down there. They'd been careful, but tell- tale boot marks on the stream bank gave them away.

Yes, the form was done in their office, signed there & left with them.

    Trying to snow here too.
