:rotfl::rotfl: I had visions of an ornamental metal pump :rotfl::rotfl: I clearly have a fairytale view of small holdingTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I've no idea, alfie. It doesn't look like the slurry pumps I know but it could just be a different type. The ones I know stand on a ring at the wet end like this (see Gallery)0

this is a pump where you put the hose into liquid and it pumps up through to wherever... like a big hoover.
i never intended to supply a gurt big pump ....:rotfl:
just thought it would help....:o0 -
Right, dress rehearsal done without specs on and no major problems....except I nearly took the sound desk with me when I came off the stage. I need a sign pinned to my backside saying "Wide load!":rotfl:
But I'm not the biggest dame in the show. That honour goes to a 'lady' called Mrs Buxom, who has enormous everything. When her boobs arrived in a plastic bag, I wondered what the heck they were!
But the star of tonight's show was the belly-dancing, snake charmer, Destiny's Daughter, whose bra fell off half way through the act......Good job her veil stayed in place, or her beard would have been visible.....
Dry, cold & windy here today too, choille. It hit 20C in the polytunnel, but with night time temperatures plummeting, that isn't really so good.0 -

I really wish I lived closer Davesnave... Your Panto sounds right up my street ( sense of humour wise)
Do they do a dvd of the panto?
I need cheering up at the mo... head is ready to explode:o
It was really brass monkeys yesturday..
at least it is better than rain ( just)
Haven't even thought of sowing seeds or even anything to do with planting so far this year:cool::cool:
I really did want to get some 'easy care' plants so I could plant on into pots and leave until the pot was full:rotfl: ( normally the following year)
I used to do this before, with sedums etc and then sell them in the farm auctions and the little friday market which had about 3 stalls, 2 fruit and veg 1 meat, then me:rotfl:
anything i could fit in the back of my car, never made loads of money, but it paid for some bread, cheese and milk on the way home...
Now there is a shop in the village, which has a huge garden centre part selling cheap plants.
I think I used to sell them for 50p a pot.. ( we are going back at least 12 - 15 years ago)
also layered my honeysuckle, and once it rooted, cut and potted them on...
so wish I could close the door on work, and walk straight into a greenhouse.. to earn money, but I know there is no way I could earn enough money to pay my electric and petrol costs, let alone a total livable way at the moment..:o:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
There was a DVD last year, but I don't know what's happening this time round. We'll have photos. The show has its risque moments, but it's all done tastefully and unlikely to offend anyone....except historians!:rotfl:
Agree that you can't really make money on plants, except if you:- build up a reputation in a posh, well-populated area, like we did
- sell on at least 4 days a week
- spend most of the other time propagating
- give up hope of doing very much of anything else!
Tennis elbow sounds like a wimpish, middle-class sort of problem, until you have it and realise that actions such as wielding a hammer or bill hook have become almost impossible.0 -
We keep coming back to the conclusion that it is extremely difficult to make enough money from smallholding/plants/eggs/produce to live on and its more a lifestyle choice that has to be supported by an external source of income.
So while you could make some money from growing and selling plants CTC, the big question is how much money will you lose by not spending that time doing the more profitable stuff
What we're doing is not our main source of income but I dont think we could make half as much by plant and produce sales.
Dave, tennis elbow  My last bout of that lasted 3 years before it finally cleared.
Had a busy family and work time over last week but both of us shivery with scratchy throats this morning, this winter seems really bad for various kinds of lurgy.
Just restocked at auction, so we'll spend an easy day or two researching buys. We've gone upmarket on some buys so we're way out of our comfort zone :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

It might do, it looks like some I have seen.
I will also stick it in a crude blue barrel filter.0 -

I recall John Seymour had a chapter called Bread, and he was not thinking about corn.
Of course he excited loads of people who may not have realised that his income came mainly from writing and radio? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
