Well I need to confess my beans are too leggy and will probably not make it as far as the garden, when will I ever learn? Oh well at least they cheered me upTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
LIR - hope you feel better soon! Dave - I never claimed to be a lady! Rummer - glad you got a smile out of it
Hugs to all that need them."...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -
Looks good to go here today, but I don't like the look of what's coming up for Thursday & Friday.
Our front hedge arrives today: Cotoneaster simonsii from Hedge Nursery in Herefordshire. It's just over £100, whereas a fence would be 5x that and look...... like a fence.
Decided not to buy a hedge for the bit between us and the thatchers just yet. We have so many things on the go now, it would be sensible to just wait and do it properly next autumn.
With a bit of luck, i.e. not much rain, we'll start the clearance of our long barrows in the bottom field soon, so we can fence the remaining important bits. I've explained to *penr*ach that they have a window of opportunity to remove their illegal pole, after which, finding a way to it may become very complicatedfor them.
Meanwhile the council have just bowled us a googlie by insisting we fill in a new Foul Drainage Aseesment Form, which is a requirement for all new PP applications. First, we have to show that it's impractical to connect to local sewers, which won't be too hard, as the nearest are about a mile away in two directions. :pI'm not too worried at this stage, as we already hold PP for the two new bathrooms, which may or may not be built. The rest is just like for like replacement.
Last night's rehearsal was the first using the stage and curtains and wasn't exactly hitch-free.:( We have a few days left to hone this thing into a higher form of chaos!0 -
Davesnave, the foul drainage assessment is fine. It's because they are trying to get pimple to move on to systems like ours rather than tanks.0

I agree, LIR. They probably want a plant installed. It's the way things seem to be going.
I'm trying to keep up with the pole saga, Dave, but am struggling..... along with the rest of the body, the old brain is suffering from the lurgy. How many properties are served by the pole? Is it, like around here, also used to carry your electricity supply?
I've obviously missed something somewhere. Why is the pole "illegal"?
Are you certain the wayleave wasn't paid off as a lump sum during the previous occupant's residency or, alternatively, that *penr*ach haven't used their statutory right to install without the need for a wayleave agreement?
Surely, this is something that your solicitor should have turned up during conveyance? Might it now be a case of Caveat Emptor?0 -

Caveat emptor? It was neither visible nor reachable when we viewed the property and as Mr Dog had lied about the ownership of the land, quite *possibly with the collusion of a friend in */penr*ach, there was no wayleave to show up on the searches. It only does Mr Dog's phone line and 'that company' have it on record that he's the owner of the land its on.
I started asking questions in 2010 and didn't get very far. The communications company concerned could hold master classes in being difficult to communicate with. (I have someone on the inside and he doesn't know a useful phone number!:rotfl:)
But there's another nasty aspect to this. Around the time the work was done, the female owner here had received some pretty devastating news, which eventually resulted in the sale of this place. What a great time to do something underhand, like surreptitiously stick a pole on her land and then stop her getting the wayleave.
Yes, there is a statutory right to put up poles in extreme circumstances where everything else has failed, but this wasn't one of those. And as 'that company' didn't exercise due care & diligence in tracing the landowner, I think they ought to take the bloody thing away. Guess who I think should pay!0 -
Is Mr Dog paid the wayleave then?0

No, it's not paid if it's on your own land and serving yourself only.
It's £150, paid once.
My hedge has arrived. Looks good, but I'm nowhere near ready to put it in yet! :eek:0 -
Dave, you did the full name of the co concerned you might want to edit?
Hugs from Liverpool.0 -
Dave - Have you actually applied for a LPR & pointed out that, as the registered owner of the land on which the pole stands (despite Wayleave having admitted that "The Company" records wrongly show it on a neighbour's land) that "The Company" should incur the cost of rearrangement?0
