Alex, glad to hear you're a bit better. Alfie, it wont help but I do worry about you at times, hope things settle down.
Weather atm does not suit smallholders/farmers/gardeners. I look outside and see pools of water forming on my free draining raised beds0 -
It's freezing here too. And things seem quite bleak. We are now getting pools of standing water on our land. Despite being clay our field have impressed me but now they are just full.
Alfie, we want ruby here to start her.
I am trying to find people who will do some fencing for me before the end f financial year and failing miserably. Getting desperate now,.

Still about 5C here, but feeling very chilly compared with this morning, when as predicted, I started my seed-sowing.
At that time the poly was about 12C and I was being deafened by the rain that only stopped at around 5pm. Our fields are already back to totally sodden status too, lir. That means no fencing here for a while yet. It no longer matters what financial year it falls in here, fortunately or unfortunately, I'm not sure which. .
After lunch we started to prepare for some deep beds in the poly and managed to get the first small one in. We desperately need to construct some outside too, but there's no chance of that either until conditions improve. Maybe tomorrow we'll put in the first large one, which will be 3.6m x 1m. Chances are though, I'll be sent shopping!
Get well Alex, and alfie, Don't Over-Do Things! Get it checked, 'cos now you've said you will!0 -
Alfie your on line hubby rhiwie is worried about you, so please take it easy:p:rotfl:
Weather has been pants here too.. constant bloody rain...
LIR roughly what area are you? pm me with info..
Why I asked my fencing guys work all over the country doing council contract work etc... I know it is a TOTAL LONG SHOT, but if I know what area you are, I could ask him if he has any work in your area.
With us, if when he is in between jobs, then he sends his boys up to do a bit of fencing for us. we are in no rush, and as he is really good we dont mind waiting/doing fencing in stages.. Would be different for you if he is working in your area, and could do it for you.
Alfie has seen our fencing, so will give you an honest opinion on the work they have done.
Alex welcome to the world of smallholding:rotfl:.... our ranch we have been told in the freezing weather the pipes freeze up so the house could be without water for weeks:eek::rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -

CTC, a belated "thank you" for your post the other day replying to my whiney "I can't stop thinking about moving" post
I know you waited a long time to get your ranch & it sounds like you did everything you possibly could to achieve your daydream
Btw, have you had your blood pressure checked re. the headaches??
alfie, hope you're going to get checked out re. the 'taser' twinges, they sound painful.
alex, I loved the post about your visit to alfies, definitely gave me food for thought. Hope you are feeling better today.
A friend lost one of his chooks to a fox (he thinks) at the weekendFriend lives in a town & is completely surrounded by neighbours/high fences, no alleyways etc. so I was surprised that a fox would know there were chooks in his garden. Do they find them by smell/noise??
Chilly day here but at least it's dry.'A watched potato will never chit'...0
