Ladies, will all the craft work be for own use or will you sell any? Just wondering whether Etsy will have its own Daydreamer posse
But you sometimes need a thick skin, especially at craft fairs when potential buyers will remark loudly that they could buy stuff cheaper, or they critique a creation so much that you want to throttle them! Equally you get a real buzz when people admire your work and shell out real money to buy it :j. DW and I did this for 18 months when she was made redundant and having knee ops, it was therapy but never a real money spinner.
You may just be able to tell that all isnt totally well on the buyer front atm as we're having another run of non-payers who wont respond to e-mails  The lost sales are annoying but the most aggravating thing is the waste of time involved :mad:0 -
What a difference a dry day makes! Drying out here nicely now, but I see Met Office has brought forward their prediction for more rain by six hours since yesterday........so it's [STRIKE]bonfires [/STRIKE]....sorry, controlled burns from 10 am.
Meanwhile a new email has gone to Op*nr~3ch....
"Dear Op+8r*ech,
What exactly must I do to get your office to acknowledge my letters/email?
This is a relatively simple enquiry that has taken Op'~r%*ch over 3 months to respond to, which is amusing considering that yours is a communications company.
I can understand that if an enquiry or site visit is necessary, then no immediate answer might be available. However, it would be nice to know that you are dealing with the matter.
Yours sincerely,"
I've rung them in the past and got nowhere, hence the written approach. I also want/need a paper trail.
It'll only be £150 max at the end of the day, but right now I'm thinking it's worth that to just fence the thing out, plant sea buckthorn behind it.....and wait for the fun! :rotfl:0 -

Own use for me, just down to the time it takes. Non-crafty people have IMO generally no real understanding of the amount of hours that goes into something hand-made, and would never see it as a reasonable price for what it is. Even machine knitting, which from the name sounds very mechanised and like it would take no time at all, has to be cast-on mostly by hand across 200 needles, then shaping and patterning can also be manual rather than automatic and therefore more time-consuming.
My skills are not very highly tuned, I stick to simple things in general - I made two lap blankets for my parents some years ago which they still use but that's the only thing of mine that has had any long term use!
I'd love to have more time to craft, but it won't pay the bills..."...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -
I do hope that the horse gets well soon. When a new vet meets fat cat who is about 20 I halt them in their tracks by saying diets are no good as he'll just steal from the hens! Which is true....in a way. Don't bother what they think, you wouldn't get a vet if you didn't care.
A beautiful duck has appeared here....blown off course of course.
Another mouth/bill to feed.0 -
Ok, well good news is get was lovely and told me my regular vet has a note on my file saying I am a "special" client and he loves it here...
So I warned his colleague before taking her rug off and he said, well...he expected worse from the build up io had given her. He also said he would like to know if he can offer her to any researchers 'after' as she holds the key to some sort of mystery.
Any way, the less good news is she has an infected tooth. But not badly enough to pull. Confusingly, a worse tooth would have been a great result....we could remove the root ( no pun intended) of the problem and she'd be ok. But this mild infection is harder because we cannot I'd the tooth so she would have to in to hospital ....and that's not going to happen, it would be too much for her. So.....ultimately it's probably her death sentence, In the mean time we are seeing how it responds to antibiotics, but it's a short term measure. Four weeks maybe?0 -
LIR ..glad it was a nice vet, fingers crossed the anti-b's work... BUT.... sadly to say the time will come, as ITSME all too well knows:o:o hard sooooooooooo bloody hard....Work to live= not live to work0

Rhiwie I have done a few craft fairs with a very talented friend and some people are brutal in their views  as much as I love my crafty persuits I would rather give the things I have made to appreciative friends/family or to enjoy them myself
LIR I don't know what to say. Old girl has clearly had a wonderful life when in your care and it sounds as if you and the vet are doing everything to make her comfortable and happy. I love hearing about her and the way she lives life on her terms, what a girl!
Alex Much as I love my crafty persuits I am still to open my loomI would love to get going with it but I am on a yarn fast until July and I need to stain it and put it together too. Although I am looking forward to making a wide variety of scarves
At the moment I am enjoying making shawls.
This weekend I am hoping (weather permitting) to get a wee bit more done in the garden. I also want to research herbs and decide what else I want to plant this year.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Well, I managed to have my Choille Day bonfire today, only about 3 weeks late!
It wasn't very easy bringing it to that state where even green wood burns, but eventually it was consuming stuff as fast as I could drag it there.
Then it rained! :mad:0 -
so sorry to hear about old horse, youve added time by knowing what was needed and a good life has been had and is having...
i am off to heathrow early tomorow...
mabel is at last contained...for now ! i have had to put her back every day last week, she just comes over to the green outside and goes to sleep under the tree but someone will complainand then im mincemeat ...given her hay beds strategically placed around her paddock to tempt her to stay aswell as a new fence....
she has SO got a reputation now albeit all in good humour....so far !
just been given 2 lovely arm chairs, round back wood with rattan back insets and cushion seats 1900s.0 -
morning all:j:j
Choille sounds as though its a bit rough up there,
Surely it can't be long before we start getting proper weather...
we had rain and sleet here last night..
Alfie:rotfl: mabel.... but as you say, when will the novelty of a roaming pig wear off??? hopefully the new fence and some lovely hay spots around here paddock will do the trick...
Hubby is on about keeping the 2 girlie pigs to breed from...so will have to ready up and learn about that stage of keeping piggies...
what I am concerned about, if they are seperated to have their piglets, would we be able to put them back together after the piglets are weaned, or would they fight????
Looks as though the horse meat saga is continuing with findus lasagne being 100% horse meat in some packs...I think the main concern now is a something called 'bute' that is used on horses, getting into the food chain? LIR do you know what this stuff is given to horses for, wormer??? to put the horse sleep???
I think maybe people will start leaving the ready meals and
pre- made burgers, frozen sausages, mince products alone, and buy joints of meats...Work to live= not live to work0
