  • Alex my youngest has the same birthday as you:beer::beer:

I wish i could meet up with you too this weekend, maybe in a few months if Alfie doesnt mind we could all meet up at Alfie's place.

CTC please wish him a happy birthday for next Thursday from me! I shall be the answer to everything (according to Douglas Adams ;) )

I think a summer meet-up would be a great idea! :T I may even bring my DH along as he doesn't get to go out often.

I'd come too; she's not far from me. I'm pretty sure I'm half way between Alfie and LIR :D

Yep, I think so. :). Hopefully we will meet soon, fabric samples and tape measures in hand :j
  • I have been playing with an early birthday pressie tonight - a peg loom! Anyone else had a go with one? I'm finding it quite relaxing.

I will have to google these looms, as I haven't heard of them.

It's hailing here, but the wind has dropped thankfully. Our little caravan that OH uses as his drawing office lost most of its front window in the gales.

Our TV has packed up & the radio won't tune in properly so it's been nice & peaceful these past two evenings.

Old horse has a vet visit this morning, she has a horrid snotty nose. It's not our usual vet, who is on holiday, but another from the practise and I am anxious lest meeting old horse for the first time he is somewhat horrified. That will of course be telling , but I am hoping he feels as his colleague did when he last saw her.

I looked at rigid heddle looms and decided they seemed a bit complex for me to start with! I would usually machine knit when I have time, but with the house on the market I have sold all my kit... but I kept all the yarn and there's a lot of it. Some of it is suitable for the peg loom but some is a bit fine so when I have more experience I may run two or three yarns at a time.

As to what I'm making, this first "thing" is a practice piece to see how long it takes and how it looks. I've not used the full width to start with (it's 2 feet long and dual gauge) so as not to scare myself off. DD wants a scarf though, and DH wants me to do a bedspread for the bed - but that could be made up in squares or long strips sewn together, depending what I like better.

I like the fact it was inexpensive, compact, not too complicated, and I can use any thickness of yarn or other things to weave with.
