Do you mean MVF? Apparently, our nearest Countrywide is at Taunton, which isn't exactly convenient. But we have MVF, the confusingly similar-sounding Moleavon, and Tuckers, who I predict will disappear inside a few years due to sheer old-fashioned dullness.

No, WMF. (west midlands farmers). I used to use that as a kid, and then didn't have one til back here. (same company as mole valley, usually more expensive and more.......weekendy). I had forgotten it was WMF til called it that accidentally in one of my brain moments when talking to the old farmer who does my hedges, He thought that was hilarious and said only the 'old men does still call it that, them as go to mole valley now'. (meaning real farmers:D).

maggie don't ever apologies ....and with rhiwie knowing what you are going through... you know you can talk ..

    And me! :p

Even now, I can't explain much about our experiences. We intended to relocate and take Dad with us, but when that became an impossibility as his mental state worsened, the objective changed to keeping him in his own home for as long as possible.

Unfortunately, we continued with that for too long. We spun the plates successfully for a few years, but ended up resentful and beaten by the relentless advance of the dementia. We inherited part of a small property as a result, but it was still scant recompense for missing out on the move we should have made before rural prices went barmy....and while we were still relatively young. :(

I wouldn't advise others what to do. We made our choices consciously, and there's no telling what might have happened if we'd made different ones.
  • sorry maggie.... AND Davesnave:D

I normally buy semi-skimmed milk, but in the supermarket they have full fat jersey milk.. with the layer of cream that is on the top..:D

sooooooooo last friday I bought one for hubby ( as he 'tolerates' semi skimmed as he has no choice in the matter:cool::rotfl:)

and I had a gob full. WOW it brought memories back from when i was a kid, and used to drink the milk from the milk bottle...and it tasted of proper milk..couldnt put it in my tea though:eek:

bought more today... going to make a lovely milk shake later

We have a pint of this delivered every day, it forms our milky coffees which are a heaped teaspoon of good quality instant coffee, a teaspoon of sugar and half a pint of gold top. Nuke for 1 min 40 secs in our 900 watt microwave and dust hot chocolate powder over the top. Delish!

When they homogenise it the fat gets distributed throughout, and I don't like it like that. Unhomogenised all the way!

Dh prefers his unhomogenised and unpasturised and full fat.

I like mine skimmed:o. I am so used to skimmed that I find the creamy milk really unpleasantly viscous. Even in coffee. Which is weird because occasionally I like cream in my coffee (as a sort of every third year threat:o) but creamy milk doesn't appeal.

It's really odd and if it's just me at home baking I often have to make my milk full fat by adding cream, :rotfl:

Me too, but I'm a night owl anyway. :D It still doesn't seem that cold.....

Semi-skimmed for me too, but then, I'm not a milk person. The free school milk that was always luke warm saw to that!

Why are your neighbours despondent? Is it 'just' the weather?

I was chatting with the lady who's our neighbour on the southern boundary and she sounded a bit fed up. She said, "I don't think we shall ever finish our place." I felt it was a bit of an odd thing to say, as I don't ever envisage 'finishing,' though I'd like to reach a stage of being less unfinished! :rotfl:

Hmmm.....everything still seems to be where it should be this morning. We had some fierce hail at some stage in the night.

My tomato seed from 2006 has germinated! To think I put those onto kitchen roll, way before we put our old house up for sale....:)
