There s a standard guide of ballpark price of building per square meter. I am afraid I cannot remember, but someone on the buying renting board would know.
It's based on 'basic' builds...no fancy insulations, fixtures, fittings or materials.0 -
Besides not taxing her van yesterday, DW spent loads of time on the phone getting quotes.
I told her that was a complete waste of time, because she was a woman, and all things being equal, as it's now no longer legal to make women's insurance cheaper than men's, she was bound to see her premium go up this year....and it was only a bit anyway.
She only secured a like-for-like deal @ £75 less than the quote from her usual insurer.....:o:o:o:o
Now she can afford to tax the thing!0 -

I work on £1200 per m2 for plain and £1500 for fancy, but it's very rough and probably wrong!
Maybe the DIY board?0 -
Build Routes
Executive
This for the cash-rich/time poor individuals who are looking to employ a range of professionals and tradesmen to undertake their house construction project. They are less driven by cost, and will only get involved in the high-level decision making and specification. About 20% of self builders fall into this category.
As a rough guide, a two-bed house (around 120 sq metres) will cost £143,400 to build this way; a three-bed house (around 150 sq metres) cost £172,200; a four-bed house (around 200 sq metres) will cost £214,600; a five-bed house (around 250 sq metres) will cost £250,500.
but I don't know how up-to-date the page is.
At over 505sq m. I'm thinking it would be a blooming expensive turn out to build our place nowadays
Mind you the utility room is about 18.5ft x 11ft if that's what you are after, lucielle.0 -

Cheaper to build than restore. ( that colour drains from the face smiley would be useful)0 -

Sadly, true - as we both know.
(The _pale_ smiley is _ pale _ without the spaces)0 -
I don't think ours is a 'restore.' It's more of a 'wrecktify!'
I think we may do the finishing, like painting, coving, that sort of thing.....We usually do0 -

Yeah.
Probably doesn't take you a week to paint one room though.
Really frustrated that the study is taking so long. On the plus side, it does look really good.0
