Hello! Looks like the stomach bug has come my way too as I was horrendously ill yesterday. At least I didn't vomit but I am exhausted and quite shaky today.

What have I learned this year? That together my family and I can get through anything. I also want to spend more time on my home and garden and turn them into a real oasis of calm and productivity. Finally I am ready to take the plunge and implement the changes to my side plot :D. Finally 2013 will be the year that I get my finances truly in order.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • I know next to nothing about rocket mass heaters or stoves.
I know that there's a difference - one is more cooking specific & not so good at heating & the other vice versa.
I'm guessing this will be a stove, Sambucus?

We once thought of having an outdoor pizza oven having demolished the old brick & stone built BBQ. With 5 lousy summers we'd yet to have had a chance of using it, I think. It would have joined the gone-green-to-match-the-rest-of-my-surroundings. :rotfl:

    well done you

Rhiwie. I have posted over on thread on the green board this morning, just wondering if you could give me some info/advice on this, and also where would be the best place to buy the stuff ( brother and step uncle are electricians so i am sure i could get them to do all the wiring in etc)

pmd you, have a word with your bro to check the power needs of the circuit you want, and whether it can be run off batteries that can be charged with solar pv.

Sorry to hear you've been poorly, Rummer :(

    2013.
Probably just more of 2012, I'm afraid. Possibly even worse if there are more strikes.
My two hopes are 1) for better weather but I've been hoping for that for the past few years ..... in vain & 2) a way out of the mixed use trap without having to destroy half the property.

Edit: Oh & UPVC comes in some very clever finishes now which can deceive the eye into thinking it's something else. I'd go for it every time unless there are stipulations which disallow it. Why waste time & effort having to regularly decorate the woodwork when time & money can be better spent in other ways?

It's mainly for cooking but once it is in place, we will build a shelter round the seated area as we want an outdoor cook and eat area...so that we can cook, eat and heat whatever time of year it is.

Yes - that's apparently where it's gone wrong in the past.

    Yes, that's exactly what happened!

Luckily we aren't like that. ;)
