Rozee, you've found, as we have, that 'doing up' a rural property is less about Grand Designs and more concerned with prioritising to achieve the best solution within a sensible budget. Being older, we need to be extra sensible, so things with a long payback may not suit us. ;)

Going into the roof was a step too far here, as will be underfloor heating for existing rooms.

Good news about the curtilage change and pps anyway. You'll love having a tunnel! :T
  • Congratulations, rozee :j:beer: It sounds like you're taking a sensible route.

One thing to remember is, where possible, to allow for future flexibility. That's not just for the structure itself but for the 'technology'.
In the time we've been here the internet, satellite TV, mobile phones, various different gadgets, energy sources/solutions (& many other things) have been invented or become everyday items.
Progress will mean alterations so leave yourself some options open.

:rotfl: Not a Secret Squirrel fan then. Wait until you start keeping poultry...... you'll be spitting about all manner of fur & feather :D

we all must conjur up a mental picture of each other and i personally see such confidence in the rural way of things that you now have.:D

wish you all the best for your future plans.....go gal !;) :rotfl:

That's laudable, but kinda difficult to achieve, unless you mean something like parking a water heat bank somewhere near the middle of the house:

Take GSHP, for example, many people who bought ten years ago might have thought themselves very sensible putting in drainage, laying new floors, planting tree shelter belts, erecting additional buildings etc, only to discover now that they've virtually blocked off that option. We could hardly chastise them, though, for lack of foresight.

I think it's probably a fair assumption that being able to grow more of your own, and harvest wood, will continue to be a good option, even when we are all comparing notes and grumbling about the cost of Home Hadron colliders. :)

So after picking up DS1 some 2 hours late from the train station our journey back was interrupted at midnight when I had to get out on the A48 and indulge in some pretty spectacular projectile vomiting.

Which continued thru the night with side effects.

Probably viral but when you feel this !!!!!! who cares

Really need to get salts and fluid levels back up but I cant face drinking anything :o

    Sorry to hear this. :(

When I was in this way, years ago, I found an egg cup full of Lucozade every 15mins stayed down. My Dr said any sugary drink, so long as you fancied it, would be fine.

I know there are special drinks for the purpose, but I didn't fancy them, being conditioned to Lucozade at the imprinting age. ;)
