I'd agree with him, but nothing to stop them being located in a small ventilated container outside, a short wiring run but safe fire distance from house.

Itsme, have you found the gap in the censors defences or is it just a load of ballcocks??

Am I horrible mother? I have sacked my eldes son from work:o he was being a lazy twonk:mad: and in the end was doing everything wrong, and piddling off everyone in work

So he has been job hunting today as I told him, I am not paying his car insurance every month... Did give him a last chance this morning, but he declined

Is anyone good at detective work:D and has access to old censors etc?

I really would like to find out about our ranch...I know it was an old battery chicken farm, going back to the 50's I think.. and it was suposed to have been the weighbridge master's cottage? ( old colliery drams used to go go down to the canal... and somewhere on our land is the old weighbridge hut???

NO you're not a horrible mother. We had to tell eldest son to move out, as he lost his job through his own actions and we couldn't afford for him to sit around playing computer games all day. We gave him more than two moths leeway to find something else, but he didn't push himself. So we pushed him out :rotfl:Luckily, he's just found himself a new job but he needed the shove in the "stand on your own two feet" direction, I think. Hope yours finds something soon - how old is he?

he will be 18 in december......

by all accounts he has been asking around today, they have all said drop a CV in, ( I allways say this in work, just to be polite) He said he is going to the job centre tomorrow.... he has never been there before..... hahahaha.. he will have a shock.

Its got worse since he had his car...

So did he go to college for a year, or finish education at 16? Our youngest struggled to find anything at all because he had no employment history from 16 to 22 - nothing to put on his CV except renovating the house (it hasn't taken that long, only the last two years of those six). Eldest has been in work regularly since leaving school but still took 4 months to find a new job.

You're right, it'll be a shock. Does he have any idea of what things cost in the real world i.e not funded by parents? Is he likely to come to you cap in hand in a couple of months and say he's been a fool and would you take him back on?

Cruel to be kind and all that. He needs to get into the habit of working hard to keep himself in a job, he won't be able to retire before he's 70 :rotfl:

Alex, number one on my "power" list would prob be good aspect so that advantage could be taken of passive solar. That, combined with excellent insulation would do away for most heating needs.

    Absolutely agree on that.

    Aspect wins over everything.

Well apart from basic like windows and doors without holes in them.

Remember being on Enlli - south facing http://www.bardsey.org/english/staying/ty_nesaf.htm. Very pretty windows? Grade 2 listed.

You will just spot that the middle lower window in each set has a thicker frame? Side-sliding sash window. When the storms sweep in off the Irish sea, the rain collects in the lower runner, fills up and runs into the houses! So they have drilled holes in all the lower runners to drain the water out of the houses.

So when the wind blows a hooly, all the rooms are well-ventillated. I "plugged" them with pencils and rollled up tissue. Made a huge difference.
