Windas in - well another 4 & what a difference. Water pouring into house as we have a complete torrential storm going on. We're all well soaked.
The burn is in spate & a raging torrent - so it's the old hands - The Scot's Greys who got free ranged today as the Orp teenagers would get sweeped down the waterfall being a bit.......blonde.
Lit the stove today to get dried out & coz the paperwork that needs burning is becoming a fire hazard.
I've been badly scammed by a company based goodness knows where & they're pluming into my bank account - I sent off for some free smaples of face cream & paid for the postage- the took nearly £65 off me on the 4th....I've spent a lot of time trying to sort it out & am shocked at the way I've been spoken to by the bank, by VISA by Citizen's advice etc. I've been treated as if I'm an embecile. Wonder you didn't hear me losing the plot down there..........0 -

Alfie I've been told that I can't cancel it as I agreed to it - I've spent hours on the phone & cannot believe how I've been talked to - one woman told me she had a degree & had to try & talk to me in layman's terms so I would understand. I asked her to stop talking in cliches - which were being used at inappropriate times & it all decsended into a slanging match. I wanted to reach down the phone & squeeze the breath outa the witch...........geeeeeeeeee.
Missed summat - what you camping owt for?0 -

you can give 7 days notice to any bank/building society barring any individual from withdrawing funds from your account...in writing [keep copy]. if they dont follow your instructions they are accountable for any further funds withdrawn... simple as....
im only camping [sort of] by day for 3 days at the beaulieu auto jumble...selling my vintage dress/hat collection [well vintage cars = vintage dresses ?] and ooops chucked in a load of junk to flog too. i did buy a few "car" books from a boot sale so's its "car-ie":rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Gosh, there's a lot going on in here! Where to start?
I've no idea what the new permitted development rules will allow, but I'm sure if the council passed our Plan A they'll agree to Plan B, as it will be less ambitious. Previous extensions mean we are already over the current permitted development limit. Can't advise there. I expect the devil will be in the detail tho'...
Does a polytunnel 12' wide need permission? I thought only 14' and up were regarded as commercial, requiring PP....or is this a Welsh rule? I'm also not sure about curtilage, but polytunnel and deep beds count as an 'allotment,' so it's OK to put those in fields. Loads of people do.
The garden curtilage here was expanded well over 10 years ago, so I don't think anyone could come along and require us to put it back the way it was now.:D However, we shall do that in part when we finish making a small home paddock.
Dispatching chickens. Although we have a vet specialist 5 miles away, I wouldn't pay her to do that. I've only bumped off ill birds so far, in the dark using a rolling pin on a wooden block. This I think is virtually 100% guaranteed to work first time. You have to be prepared for the chicken to shoot 2 metres across the grass, but they are effectively already dead when they do that. Don't wear nice clothes!!!
I think when it comes to the healthy cockerels, I'll give them something nice to make them very happy and sleeeeepy at bedtime....:o
Sorry to hear about the scam, choille. There's so much to be wary of out there and no wonder folk are not very trusting these days. The lady we bought the car from said she was relieved we looked like nice, 'normal' people when we turned up at hers yesterday.....
I said, "Those are the ones you've got to watch!!!":rotfl:
Works both ways though, I was listening hard right from the very first contact. Quite often, I don't take enquiries about items for sale any further once I've spoken to someone on the 'phone.0 -

We have the chainsaw and gear (OH loves it) I want to buy a good shredder so we can make the stuff that OH chainsaws off the trees and shrubs compostable. Does this sound reasonable? Can anyone receommend one? What's worth buying and what would be better to hire on a plot that has a lot of field (3 and a half acres) and a lot (half an acre plus?) of mature (and sometimes a bit past their best) trees?
My suggestion?
Log store - use some of the small round timber to construct it.
Then saw/chop as much of the decent sized stuff for burning next year.
Think about thickening the timber - a Ben Law term meaning that you take out some of the older and bigger stuff to allow the middle age stuff to mature and the younger trees to follow on.
Chippings make great paths and bases for kid slides etc, but if they get wet, you may get mushrooms/toadstools as well.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
