is it one of those things you use to turn the water off down a deep hole? i had one that had like a 4 sided point one end and i put a bar through top hole to wind it...probably not but...:o :rotfl::rotfl:

Don't think so, unless someone modified it by cutting off the 'spanner' end and making it pointed. Will look, but I think it was designed like this.

Was going in search of another car today, but the weather forecast means I CBA!

Dave, havent a clue what it is :o

CTC, hope you're safely enjoying the BB

Lir, hope you're feeling rather better.

Rummer, dont stress over garden, the less you tend it the better for wildlife ;)

Chooks have enjoyed rebuilding the paths and beds covered in new woodchip

Totally failed at recent auction, blown out of water despite having deep pockets of my own :(

BUT, bought a large job lot of books and some wonderful stuff there. Detailed plant and wildlife books, superb illustrations and prints, loads of cross stitch/embroidery. Just reading Margaret Mee's In search of Flowers in the Amazonian Rain Forest. What a woman!

Eating ice creams in Carmarthen today doesnt quite rank with her exploits :D

Oh, last night read Heaven Knows Mr Allison, where the nun and Allison get machine gunned on the beach at the end. Thinbk the Mitchum/Kerr film had a happier ending!!

Evening all! I have been on a money making/saving mission today and have been looking things out to e-bay although I am going to wait until things pick up a bit more on there.

What do you all think of car boot sales from a selling point of view? It would just be kids clothes, paperbacks, brick a brac. Not expecting to raise a great deal more to clear out and raise a bit in the process. I know most of you sell specialist items but was just curious as there is a regular one near us.

Not much further forward in the garden as we have been relaxing in it soaking up all the sun we can before it is gone for good. Trying to clear out a few pieces of junk from the shed every week instead of tackling it all in one go.

I posted a thread on here about what to plant in my prone to water logging front garden that will cover the ground to save me weeding and I wondered if any of you had ideas?

Hi Rummer, paperbacks generally dont sell that well, kids clothes do but at very low prices. Things that sell well are those that are underpriced (dealers throng round newly arrived cars) and practical household things (tools, buggies etc). As I sell vintage and collectables I'm not sure quite how I manage!

Waterlogged front garden, howsabout a damp garden centerpiece with paving round. Then go for plants that like damp conditions, either wild or cultivars. Paving will make it easier to maintain and enjoy.

Alf, well done on the buying, we've been up since crack of dawn and got back mid afternoon. For once very pleased with buys, got an item worth hundreds and paid peanuts. How other bidders missed it I dont know.

Thats two Fodens in two weeks :D

well, re carboot sale. IMO put the kids clothes into piles ie...trousers, tops, dresses.. then people wont make such a pigs ear of your goods by rooting through to find something.be realistic on prices..if you need to clear out then sell it cheap. i take a big blanket/cloth and put stuff on it. only take a table if its something chunkier.. a crammed table puts some off as they dont get to see it all unless you have some more expensive pieces. [different for antiques/collectables;)]
if you can park your car side on ,then take some hangers and display your best clothes hooked on the ajar windows etc [ALWAYS LOCK YOUR VEHICLE THO AS THERE ARE T LEAVES AROUND..never leave handbag or a cash pot where someone can get it ] books are usuall popular and make a sign for books/clothes saying ? each or 3 for ? [ie. 50p each or 3 for £1 OR WHATEVER VALUE YOU THINK IS A GOOD RETURN, BOOKS DONT REACH HIGH PRICES UNLESS DIFFERENT IE VINTAGE/ANTIQUE/SPECIALIST.
set up a chair, sit back, have a banter and enjoy... a miserable face dont sell ought !!:D

hope this helps as locations dictate selling power !
